Ah, HRT; the medication around which almost every trans person in the Fleet's life directly revolves. You'd think that by now we'd have invented a way to turn it into an implant or something, but nope; still pills, gel, or injections.
I've been on my meds for about six years now, give or take. I started transitioning when I was eighteen, and was blessed to not have to sit through the two year waiting list to get them from the public health system; instead I just paid to go private and got them within a couple of months. I did eventually move into the public health system though because it was cheaper, and
santraz akk aqchko it is such garbage. They make you get your blood tests done anywhere from once every two months to once a year (seemingly at random), you have to sit through all these appointments with doctors and health professionals who are all very clearly both cisgender and
ch'ikan, and they ask you the same shit that every other one of them has already asked you because they don't bother communicating or talking to each other.
Probably the worst part is their downright antediluvian view of being transgender. I have to present as a woman rather than agender femme-leaning for all my appointments, because if I tell them I'm that, they'll say I'm 'not trans enough' and refuse to give me meds. Can't even say I'm non-binary too, they treat enbys the same way. Oh, and I also hope you like being asked whether or not you're satisfied with the size of your tits, as well as whether you want to get The Surgery™ or not at least once a meeting; even if you've already told them that you don't. Also, even if you do jump through all these hoops to get medication, half the time it ends up being out of stock and you have to hunt through three or four different pharmacies to get your prescription.
Inos, what a shitshow. Sometimes I think it might be better if fleetgov did get on and privatize them. But then the services would probably still be just as bad
and I'd need to pay for them.
