Canids, also known as Dogfolk, are a boisterously friendly race recognized by their furry bodies, long snouts, and stiff friendly tails. They have exceptional hearing and can effectively track creatures by scent. Loyal to a fault, Canids generally make treasured friends and fierce adversaries. Playable Race: Due to their loyalty towards friends a Canid may reroll once per encounter if defending another creature from harm. During group Trial success checks a Canid may also roll two die and take the higher value.
Canids possess four main limbs, two arms and two legs, plus a tail. They typically walk upright but can also run comfortably on all fours if the situation demands. They possess stiff claws at the tip of each finger, typically five in each hand and foot.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Canids are fairly carnivorous, consuming plants and herbs solely for additional flavoring or medicinal effects. While most prefer their food cooked they are well adapted to eating meats raw with no ill effects as long as they are fresh or well-preserved.
Canids have an elongated snout culminating in a large, sensitive nose. Their mouths extend the length of their snout and contain thick, sharp teeth, well equipped for tearing the meats that constitute the majority of their carnivorous diet. Canids' ears vary across individuals and bloodlines ranging from stiff triangular style ears to long floppy ears.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Canids have exceptional hearing, and can perk and rotate their ears to better pinpoint the origin of the sound. Their strong sense of smell makes them excellent trackers.
Civilization and Culture
Canid courtship is playful, revolving around communal games and hunts. The closer a couple becomes the more they withdraw from the rest of the group during these events in favor of spending more time privately together.
Common Etiquette Rules
Within their own familial and friendship groups Canids have no need of or interest in personal boundaries. Boundaries and territories are things reserved for rivals and threats.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Canids are generally welcoming to all races and groups unless threatened. They are quick to defend friends and family from those deemed unsafe or threatening.
