The Word of Eyh

relig The sorysies worship the whole, the union of all minds in death, the ultimate awareness. They believe that when a soul passes on from this world to the next they are merely rejoining the whole of which all things originate. Grieving is about more than loss but about helping a soul transition in peace from this world, to the whole and then to whatever life comes next. Often this means fulfilling unmet desires or tying looses ends for the deceased. Grieving rituals often entail the preservation and decoration of the deceased through mummification or ‘pickling’ ‘preservation in liquid crystal or glass’ with the bodies being ‘buried’ within the walls of canyon catacombs that often drive deep into the canyon walls and down into the earth and stone. These crypts are eerie walkways of encased bodies visible for mourners, often with their space decorated and painted. Pets will often be encased and preserved alongside their owners after death and before death, reserving a spot for the day their owners join them in the whole. The day after the loss of a loved one is a day of silence, anyone known by the deceased will usually spend their day without talking, making music or painting/creating. It is a time of rememberence and contemplation, of coming to terms with the void left in life and their new place in death. This is usually when plans to have the body preserved and moved are made and relatives are notified. There have been cases of iconic community members lost that have seen entire towns go silent. Shops do not open, the whole town mourns. Life does not go on for this day. The week following is considered a celebration, it is when the deceased is recognised for all the have done and accomplished in their lifetime and all the lives they have touched with their wisdom. Houses are decorated with lights and music is played throughout the week as the deceased’s belongings are organised, their house cleaned and their undone wishes completed by loved ones. It is usually a very emotional period.
