Capitals

There are few notable capitals in Fahiamel, considering both the power struggles in major governments and the political anarchy which drove the territory into factions. Despite being fortified, the Plains capital located in the beautiful green midlands named Alkhadra is riddled with hardships. Unions and Guilds have begun challenging the authority of the local government, and general morale is at an all-time low. Faith in its sole ruler, Lady Abrail, dropped steeply after the capital was sacked by the nearby Elvish Capital of Aljana. Because of this, the crime rates have risen sharply, and the economy within Alkhadra weakens steadily.   In a juxtaposition, Aljana's strong military force is renowned and their economy flourishes. A dictator titled the Grand Craftsman heads the capital, and holds horrible relations with nearby settlements and towns. Their excellence has been tested countless times through skirmishes and raids, and their troops will consistently manage victory, no matter the circumstance. Battles Aljana has seen defeat are usually named, and considered Legendary. Examples include the Storm of Aljana and the War of the Flood.   On an island South of the upper deserts lies a trading port with the third Capital, Sahra. Their craftsmanship is second to none, but they avoid tourism or visitation and work purely through trade. Sahra has isolation and connections with most political powers in Alkhadra. Because of their vast network, Sahra works can be found anywhere in Fahiamel (i.e. "Made in China"). It is led by a council, which approves a figurehead (The Zaeim) for executive powers who officially sees to the council's decisions, and ensures they transpire swiftly. The councilmen are referred to as Wakil, and the current Zaeim is a Firbolg named Deepstream.   The fourth and final Capital is Triyavil is appropriately inhabited by cold-blooded or cold-dwelling creatures, as their castle was constructed on large glacier plains. Be it natural or magical, the lands are always cold and covered in thick blankets of snow. Dangerous, large hail falls monthly, the phenomenon being the Soulstorm. Sea travel near their island is also discouraged since whirlpools often form, and countless vessels have disappeared at sea. Because of this, Triyavil has to trade for food and many raw materials, which is difficult since they have little to offer. The Capital and surrounding lands are poor and desperate, led by a shifty noble called Lord Voristeir who has reportedly not left his chambers in over two years.

Geography

The middle plains are referred to as The Plains, the darker plains to the right as The Swamps, the desert to the left as the Upper and Lower Desert(s) respectively, and the glacier island as The Icelands. However, this leaves a few unmarked locations. To the farthest West, there is a chain of islands that are often referred to as The Wastelands. It is home to many dangerous creatures, and settlements built there have been torn down after establishment each time. The dark, volcanic plains in the Southeast are named The Ashland, and accurately so. The entirety of the island is littered with ashes and debris from the active volcano which acts as the land's heart. Because of this, it is inhabitable and very rarely visited.

Relationships

Besides Sahra, there are very few notable alliances in Fahiamel as the last century had been spent warring pointlessly over power, territory, and faction. Because of their close proximity, Alkhadra and Aljana have extremely violent relations, and when patrols from each capital cross paths it often leads to bloodshed. Alkhandra has a great deal of pride despite their situation, their architecture is beautiful and unique, and the capital was built without the aid of magic. Alkhandra is neutral with Triyavil as they do not contact or trade with the capital, and rarely see their people. Aljana is hated by all capitals, as their military power threatens anyone in a post of power, and their leadership is impulsive and unstable. Sahra is in good relations with all capitals, and neutral with Aljana since they have no interest in war or expansion, and are not a sought-after landscape. Triyavil is in good relations with Sahra since they rely on their trade often, and Sahra uses exotic furs and rare metals to enhance their merchandise as well as decorate their homes.
