The Helm of Nareen
Centuries old when it was worn by its last master Fizrik Jamaba, the Helm of Nareen has a long history of honor and combat associated with Letheradim and the commander of its guard. Both frightening and taunting at the same time, the helm and attached mask would immediately cause those who saw it to attack whoever was wearing it.
The Helm of Nareen became a badge of office for whoever commanded the Raznam's Guard of Letheradim. It is rumored to have been constructed by a powerful mage from the court of the Ruby Emperor when Letheradim was founded by the Krai-Jan Empire as a bastion to protect trade caravans heading north out of Tehradim. It, along with other items of potent magical ability, were gifted to the first protectors of Letheradim.
The Helm itself is made from the skull of a zarn predator well known for its vicious demeanor and ability to take on prey several times it's size. It fits completely over the head and covers most of the face, yielding only to the warrior's mouth. The skull's long sharp teeth still protrude down from the mouth of the skull, a warning and a taunt to any who look upon the helm. The warrior sees "through the eyes of the zarn," giving him the ability to strike harder with every wound he takes, unyielding to all threats even unto death.
Whoever dons the Helm of Nareen must be a fierce warrior or they will not be the Raznam's Guard commander for very long. The helm itself is meant to draw the attention of enemies that threaten the Raznam, or administrator, be they warriors in combat or assassins motivated by money and politics.
The Helm imbues its wearer with unnatural strength in combat as well, making them stronger with every blow the enemy lands. It is the perfect helm for those looking to protect others or who wish to crush their enemies even with their dying breath.
The last wearer of the Helm of Nareen, Fizrik Jamaba, did both. Fizrik was commander of the Raznam Frohar, the "Mayor's Guard," for Achshad Nezzek, the administrator of Letheradim when the rebellious Traazorites brought down the Krai-Jan Empire.
During he siege of Letheradim, Achshad devised and executed a daring plan that allowed the escape of many civilians from Letheradim. Achshad, his Raznam Frohar, and most of his capable warriors died during the battle, Fizrik amongst them.
Believing that Runah, their god, honored the sacrifice that Achshad had made, The Traazorites buried Achshad and a few of his companions with their weapons and armor outside Letheradim's Main Gate. There the Helm of Nareen rests to this day.
