Skirmisher

The Bronze Tribes live deep in the Bar Nol Mountains north of Koronna. They have lived there since the Krai Jan first stepped foot on Isarshael, forced there by the rapid domination of the Ruby Empire.   The Bronze Tribes are related to the Urdaggar and were once part of the Tribes that roamed freely across western Isarshael from the Florfachal to the Red Rock Desert of what is now Kandor. Military pressure from the Krai Jan forced most of the tribes north of the Moonshadow Mountains and the Dorsang Danar, but a few beleaguered tribespeoples sought shelter in the rocky passages of the Bar Nol.   It was a great decision, for the Krai Jan Empire was never able to dislodge them. The terrain of the Bar Nol heavily favored the kind of hit-and-run tactics that the Tribespeople employed. While they did not work well against the Krai Jan Phalanx on the open fields of Isarshael, the Imperial army was at a distinct disadvantage in the rocky gullies and narrow defiles of the Bar Nol.   Eventually, the Krai Jan gave up trying to dislodge them and went on their business conquering the rest of the continent, safe in their assumption that the Tribespeople were too weak to cause them any problems.   They were wrong.   The Tribes, now known as the Bronze Tribes for the plentiful copper and tin deposits found readily in the mountains, banded together for survival and struck out at the Krai Jan whenever and wherever they could. They would strike small patrols, supply trains, and merchant caravans. Reciprocity was futile, as the Krai Jan never developed tactics that would rival those of the Bronze Tribes for fighting in the mountainous terrain of their new home.   The Bronze Tribes outlived the Krai Jan but continued their little wars against the Traazorites, whom the Tribespeople could find little difference in. The Traazorites also tried to dislodge the Bronze Tribes from their mountain villages, but any success they had was offset by the nomadic nature of the Tribes to simply pull up roots and lay them down somewhere else.   By this time, the Bronze Tribes had lost the individual animalistic totems of their progenitors and instead adopted all of them. Youth are allowed to adopt a personal totem that guides them in their life philosophy, place in the tribe, and martial style.   In the years leading up to the destruction of the Traazorite Empire, the rebellious Moon Worshippers in Koronna would seek peace with the Bronze Tribes in return for their help ousting the Traazorites. Both were under the oppression of the Traazorites and knew that without banding together, it was very possible that their way of life could be stamped out by the zealous Sun Worshippers.   This alliance would prove to be very fruitful the peace that it brought endures to this day. When open battle was finally instigated against the Traazorites, the Bronze Tribe fulfilled their promise and attacked from the north, helping the people of Koronna throw off their oppressors.   To this day the Bronze Tribes send Warrior Tributes to the Koronnan Military. The Koronnans give the Bronze Tribes sovereignty and protect them if attacked. They also offer tax and trade incentives for all Bronze Tribe craftsmanship. It is considered a great honor among the Bronze Tribes to serve in the Koronnan Military and be part of a peaceful cooperation going back a millennia.   In battle, the Tributes sent by the Bronze Tribes are utilized in many ways. Their totem path often determines their place in the Koronnan Military. The Tribespeople make excellent scouts and harassing troops.   Skirmishers are Bronze Tribe Warrior Tributes that follow the Way of the Eagle. Their keen eyes and sure aim make them ideal candidates to rove ahead of the Koronnan lines and break up enemy troops with their javelins.   Skirmishers disrupt enemy charges and soften up blocks of soldiers to pave the way for Koronnan Cavalry to smash their formations. They are vital to Koronnan strategy.   Bronze Tribe Warrior Tributes often look for ways they can honor the alliance between their Tribes and the Koronnans. They will often volunteer for service in a Freeband to show their bravery and loyalty to Koronna. The Koronnans are happy to have the Tribespeople in their Freebands. Their heritage as a martial people gives them a different outlook on life and battle, something the Koronnans respect and cherish.   Bronze Tribe Warrior Tributes will spend two years in the Koronnan Army, but can be called upon in times of war to serve again. After their service they will go back to their villages in the Bar Nol and take up the ways of their people, eager to tell of their exploits and victories, as it honors their ancestors and keeps the Bronze Tribes a free people.
