Dark Vengeance Scenario 5 - Forgotten Paths

Finally, a credible lead!   You’ve been halfway around Isarshael tracking your elusive enemy, and your patron is getting impatient. While you’ve been charging around in a fruitless attempt to find clues on the whereabouts of the Black Knight, they’ve been paying your way.   Now, at last, you have something reliable to share with them. Your raid on a rival’s camp has uncovered reports that the Black Knight is hiding in an abandoned village in the Bronze Mountains.   You aren’t surprised by this news. Bandits and Brigands call the Bar Nol home. Constant border fighting between Haradel and Thormenal created a power vacuum in the region.   Now, not only do you have the name of the ruined hamlet the Black Knight is holed up in, but you also have a map of the place. It really is your lucky day.   Little villages dot the rocky Bar Nol. The herders that make their living from this stony soil move their flocks from pasture to pasture and live austere lives. Their small villages, scraped together from the plentiful stone around them, are primitive by any standards.   The constant border skirmishing over this region between Thormenal and Haradel has driven many herders out of the mountains. Their villages are left to the howling winds and the creatures that inhabit these hills.   You approach the village carefully, very aware of the Black Knight’s reputation. The map indicates this place was once called Burblaf - Stone Blossom - by it’s inhabitants. As you sruvey the drab village you wonder if the name was ironic or if there is some time in the year when this place is alive with colorful flowers.   The village is abandoned - and in visible disrepair. If the Black Knight is here, they aren’t living a lavish lifestyle. The small collection of stone buildings huddle together as if they were seeking warmth from the constantly howling mountain winds. It howls through the small alleyways as you and your freeband make their way into the village.   From behind you, rocks fall suddenly, and you know you aren’t alone. Is it the Black Knight, or is it…   Dark Vengeance Scenario 5: Into the Ruins
