It doesn't mean "sea"

any large bodies of saltwater across Excilior are referred to commonly as seias, as in, the Dropship Seia or the Sister Seia. Many who speak Komon believe that this is merely a colloquial version of the word sea. In fact, many of those same people even pronounce it as SEE, rather than its proper pronunciation of SAY.
The confusion stems from the word's roots in the Tallonari language. In antiquated forms of the language, seia was the word for salt. And in Tallonai society, large saltwater bodies were often referred to simply as salts. In other words, they wouldn't speak of the "Sister Sea". Rather, they would speak of the "Sister Salt". And therefore, when spoken in Tallonari, that same body of water would be referred to as the "Sister Seia".
Because early casterway culture was, in many ways, borrowed from Tallonai traditions, the convention of naming seas as seias is widespread throughout the world, and persists even in those areas where Tallonai culture has little-or-no sway. Although the distinction in the word's etymology is probably trivial, the difference is lost on many modern casterways.
