Virgil Coremane

A great man and a great friend, Virgil is a breathtaking example of what happens when curiosity meets at the perfect moment with means and opportunity. His contributions should not go ignored because of his family name...
Warden O. B. Davies
Virgil Highton Coremane is a former explorer, philanthropist and adventurer. He is the eldest living descendant of Larel Coremane the great biologist and explorer. As the head of the house Coremane, he is the current owner of Larel's estate and holds a position of great respect among scientists, nobility, and politicians. Virgil is the a descendent of Larel and Mariel Coremane through his mother's side, despite this and the common occurence for a wife to take her husband's name, the Coremane name was deemed to important and as such has been kept regardless of lineage, a tradition upkept by Virgil and his own descendents.   While of lesser reknown than his ancestors, Virgil spent his formative years as an explorer to what is now known as the continent of Ryedath. During these many years, he explored and learned much of the great cultures that are starting to thrive across the oceans. It was in 1887 when Virgil retired from his own expeditions, though he greatly wished for more adventures than his own body could allow.

A Brief History

There are many things I could write about my dear friend, however I think it is more interesting to write a more brief summary of my friend's history to allow for a more abridged reading experience. I shall start after his childhood, for it was (in comparison to his later years) pretty dull by some standards. A good place to start would be his 18th birthday.   Upon his 18th birthday, Virgil was granted access to a boat known as the Maliha Vera. This boat was designated as an adventuring ship that would allow Virgil to travel between Coremane Island and any other islands that he wished to explore in its entirity. The next day, Virgil set sail for Coremane Island which would allow him to spend, as he did, the next year searching around the island learning more about the wildlife which resides upon the island.   By the time he reached the age of 30, Virgil had planned his first expedition out to Ryedath, particularly to explore the southern coast so he could easily return to Coremane Island should he need so. This would be the first of around seven expeditions taken to the continent of Ryedath, mostly to learn more about the greater capabilities of the tribes that he found, especially when he learned that one such tribe, the Maratuks, were able to produce a small steam engine based on the interactions they had with the people from Stanos.   The last public adventure of Virgil was to the Farlands, his aim was to discover if someone could survive such an expedition. It was to last approximately half a month at around 23 days, upon which the members of the expedition were to return and undergo some simple tests to see how the trip effected their body, mind, and spirit. At the end of the expedition, each member seemed to be more sound of body and mind, however some of them seemed to produce up the idea of strange hallucinations and phantoms, of which no one is aware the source. While every detail was not released in each public address, it seems to have been indicated that it condemned the sanity of Virgil and halted any goals he had for expeditions after such a "disaster" in the eyes of his benefactors.   Currently, Virgil acts as a professor within Farrow for those who wish to learn more about the historical and religious nature of both Stanos and Ryedath, particularly from someone who has seen several of the events with their own eyes. When he is not preoccupied with his tutoring, Virgil acts as a Lord within Farrow's government, a designated position which allows for a member to take up charge of their own capabilities, but restricts them from acting as an autonomous dictator. The Lord Coremane, as he is known in his official capacity, champions relations with nature and other budding nations, particularly among the tribes and becoming cultures within Ryedath.

Notable Discoveries

There are several notable discoveries that were made by VIrgil in the course of his career as an explorer. The most notable are listed below.

The Maratuk, Halthar, and Veriyan Tribes

While the continent of Ryedath had been discovered several decades prior, the existence of native people to the continent was a unique discovery of Virgil. The Maratuk, Halthat and Veriyan tribes were at one point warring tribespeople from the southern coast of Ryedath until a peace was brokered by Virgil which led to a burst of growth and understanding among the tribes. To the point that they joined together to form the early and ancient nation of Marthan.

Camatova'oana

Camatova'oana is the name given to the relgious pantheon of specifically the Maratuk and Halthar people. The pantheon was said to be formed of seven faces which look upon the people in different manors, each of them acting as a guide in different aspects of life. Virgil was also the first to note that while the Maratuk saw 6 faces and the face of mortals and the Halthar saw 7 faces, they were in fact noting the same faces, with one resembling the humanity of each individual and guiding them to the lightest and most exaltant form they possess.

The Qu'ira'noana

Stemming back to his ancestral roots, Virgil learned of the Qu'ira'noana, or the Qu'ira Pecker. This creature is a small bird that is able to use its hard beak to drill into and hollow out trees for sustinance. Additionally, they were sacred to the Veriyan people. While Virgil was able to assertain their sacred nature, if there were a reasoning why they were sacred, there was nothing that Virgil could notice that would indicate such a connection with any divine source. The Qu'ira'noana was also known for their vibrant colouration with them often holding a strong blue, teal or green color with several stripes of every other color in the rainbow.

Notable Alligences

While I will not confirm nor deny the membership of Virgil Coremane within a specific organisation, for should the information get in the wrong hands it could endanger Virgil and his family should a person not be fond of such information. However, Virgil remains loyal to those who surround him.   Virgil has always been notable for searching for the truthEx Veritasium in each element of his life. This search has been particularly notable, from my conversations with him, when working with Ryedath and between governments. I remember that he spoke once of a time at which two tribes were fighting about a religious tale which they believed were different, he learned that they were telling the same tale from a different perspective. While I cannot remember the outcome of this story, I remember that his goal was to use the truth of a matter rather than violence.
