The Supernatural
For each file I write about a location I'll give an idea of the supernatural events that have taken place in a location, primarily to grant you an idea of the types of experiences that members of Arcanum have faced throughoutthe realm. On my end, this should let me track and see if there is a pattern to the events.
Faithpoint has had several incidents involving phantasmal creatures, particularly representing those who have passed on from their mortal life. Apart from the undead phantasms, there have been several reported demonic possessions, however it is not clear the goal of such creatures, though many believe it was to access Kagan's Throne.
Local Defence Forces
In the village itself, there aren't any dedicated Custodians, let alone a dedicated unit tasked to defend the village and enforce the laws of Farrow. There was however a retired Seargant of the Custodians who acted as a singular focal point for the local people to turn to in case of emergencies.
As for our own forces, we have a dedicated Warden who is searching into the immense amount of Weird and Magikal events. However, there have recently been concerns for them as their reports have been few and far between. I have my own theories, but they mostly stem from information surrounding Kagan's Throne, which is reported to have ancient powers.
History
The first housing to be erected in what would become Faithpoint was Myleforth Manor. First built in 1448 CY, the manor was home to the Myleforth family, a family of powerful Oldfront nobility who acted as guardians of the ancient ruins that were near the Manor.
By the end of 1578 CY, a group of buildings had been erected around the ruins. This created the starting foundation of what would become Faithpoint. The people who gathered around the ruins originally were the children of those who acted as staff for the Myleforth family, but eventually several families moved to the location to garner a newer life outside of the industrial city of Larmine. This is considered by residents of Faithpoint to be its unofficial founding, the point at which the collection of houses became a community.
During the dissolution of the Oldfront Empire and the insuing First Great War, Faithpoint, and particularly Myleforth Manor, acted as a refuge for people who wanted to escape from the conflict. Though despite this point of escape, there were several major attacks on Faithpoint that came to light in the wake of the First Great War. The most significant was an attack from a sect of rebellious Larmines who wanted to form their own small nation at the south of the continent. The result of this attack ended up with the small group of rebels disappearing overnight after succesfully seiging Myleforth Manor. All that was left behind was a strange symbol of an eye.
As of 1790 CY, Farrow was able to finally proclaim Faithpoint as a village under the province of Merstair. Once this proclomation was made there was a burst of funding that allowed for the creation of a public house and bring a sense of vitality and life by adding new flowers and decorations to make the village feel more friendly and open to visitors.
Over the following decades, Arcanum has sent several collectives into the village to act as enforcers against highly supernatural events. As mentioned in the Supernatural section of this file, the majority of these events were undead phantasms, including a strange event in which a whole family were going about their lives in their house, which sounds innocuous at first, however it turned out that their corpses had been decomposing in a room for easily two weeks. They were only discovered when members of Arcanum interrogated the phantasms and found they couldn't see the doorway to the room that held their corpses. Even in the reports that I have here, the cause of death is listed as unknown.
During 1876 CY, I visited Faithpoint as part of an assignment that my Collective was tasked to complete. Our missions revolved around an entity that was possessing a small girl. The creature, we believed, was of demonic origin, this being the case, it was strange that the presence seemed to go completely unnoticed by members of the village. It was strange and unusual, so despite the assignment, out Collective requested that we stayed for a day or two, just to determine if anything extra was going on. This however didn't return any additional information, though I still wish to note that even now, I grow skeptical of the location.
I love how detailed the history of this place is. Very mysterious too.
