Archivist

I respect the Archivists for their dedication and self-respect, particularly in exploring the places that are more dangerous than any individual should be
Warden O. B. Davies
Archivist is a senior role that can be possessed by a member of Arcanum Noctus, particularly those who were under the order of Ex Veritasium. Their primary mission is to travel around the realm and document as much as they can. Some often call Archivists the "administrators of the realm" as they take on the reports from each Warden and Collective and makes sure that each piece of information is collected and organized into the relevant files and folders under the guidance of the rules laid forth for Arcanum.   While there are several archivists active among the realm, the primary three archivists are given the name of the Parchment Triumvirate. This triumvirate are known for traversing the realm and taking down new information that is unknown around the realm. The aim of the archivists and particularly the triumvirate is to remain anonymous among those who don't interact with them. While I am aware of two archivists and their names, I have no idea the identities or current locations of other archivists and especially not the triumvirate.

A Grand Archive

While some contest its existence, several people I've interacted with have learned and visited what is known as the Grand Archive. The archive is meant to contain as much information as currently is recorded under the entirity of Arcanum, particularly as recorded by Archivists. Its contested by several people as to whether the Archive is truly an actual location or if it is a metaphor for the collected knowledge of each Archivists collated together. However, I would be concerned as to how some of those who reported to me they had visited the Archive, were able to do so should it have been a metaphor.   If the Archive does exist as a physical space its placing remains unknown to nearly all of Arcanum. Archivists and the triumvirate seem to be the only ones who are aware of how to enter and access the Archive itself. One report that I have found seems to indicate that the archive has no singular location, instead utilising magikal means to access some form of pocket dimension that is violently seperate from the rest of the realm. This dimension would need to have access points that are known only to Archivist, but could act as a hub for the Archivists to travel from place to place among the realm, but also to become a refuge should it be needed in the case of emergencies. Whiel many don't prescribe to the theory of a pocket dimension, in my own mind, this is the only possibility for where the Archive could be, let alone how the Archivists can move unseen.

The History of Archivists

I cannot write much of the history of Archivists, primarily becuase much remains unknown in the course of history for those who are not a member of the Archival order. I remain under provisions that allow access to some knowledge above my own access level, but the records of Archivists remain sealed under the order of those with the greatest access level. Therefore, all the infromation that I am able to write here contains some conjecture of facts based on theoretical ideas.   The first written account was by someone who signed their information as Archivist Merrinforthin. This first report was written down in 1803 CY and seemed to be an account of one of the first missions of Arcanum. This report seemed to describe not only the activities of the mission, nor its results but contained theories and possible future missions that would be affected as a result of the one mission. This singular mission involved a hive of vampiric humanoids who it seems had invaded deep into the undercity of Highfront.   The Archivist Merrinforthin is not only mentioned in this one report and is unfortunately no longer with us. She was captured by Custodians during a mission and was executed because she wouldn't reveal information about Arcanum to the organisation. It was on 29 Lowinter 1842 that the first Archivist was publically revealed to all members of Arcanum, it was also the date where Merrinforthin was executed and more importantly, the Archivists became more cut off from the other orders and members. They almost act as a secret order within the group, hidden members that only reveal themselves to those that it needs to, particularly if a member of their own could be threatened.   In the modern day, there is an unknown number of Archivists, though those of us who have some information think there are around 20 to 30 members who are each given different missions from the upper command of Arcanum. These Archivists remain nameless, I am only aware of one name in relation to the title of Archivist and that is Merrinforthin, the rest remain anonymous even if met in person by a member of Arcanum. The locations which an Archivist can be sent are as close as the current town through to the farthest reaches of the realm.
