Rhodanes

The Rhodanes are the descendants of an early human tribe and were the first human ethnicity to settle on the territory that has become known as Valorden, when splitting apart from the Valese people who migrated into the territory of Alesia.
While most Rhodani tribes have assimilated into the nation of Valorden, there are a small number that decline to be part of the kingdom to this day. These tribes are found in the territories they have been pushed to after the unified tribes under King Morrinnir Thrennas have founded the Kingdom of Valorden. Namely, these territories encompass the upper heights of the Ronneval and the The Morcannaid Massif.
While King Morrinnir Thrennas himself was a Rhodane, he had lifelong difficulties to convince his tribesmen to join his efforts to found a strong kingdom. In the end, many Rhodani tribes had to be subjugated by war, while the rest were pushed to the mountains. In later occupation years by the Alesian Empire the remaining Rhodanes have suffered even more, having been wiped out completely or captured and sold into slavery if they still refused to join the subjugated nation that was absorbed into the empire.
Valordan culture remains heavily influenced by their Rhodani ancestors.
Valordan population in modern times is a mix of different ethnicites, mainly Rhodani and Valese but in the aforementioned regions traditional and exclusive Rhodani tribes prevail. These tribes do not benefit from the infrastructure of the nation and have only limited trade opportunities. In the long run, it is believed their only option to survive is to finally submit and become Valordan citizens.
