The Sky Physical / Metaphysical Law in Draguna | World Anvil

The Sky

High upon the sky, people of Draguna share not one, but two suns. The brighter, bluer sun, is the main source of Dragunas warmth and daylight. The other sun is the red, and cooler sun of the two. However, these stars aren't always the first feature the inhabitants of Draguna have gotten used to seeing. Dominating much of the sky's portrait is a large dull purple moon which is decorated with a glistening band wrapping around the circular shaped ornament.

The Two Suns

Draguna skies are blessed with two Stars; one blue, the other red. The blue star rarely changes the size, however, the red star does. Many cultures and religions, like the Marans, believe when the red star is the largest for a Generation, it will bring a time of despair as crops will struggle to yield a harvest, days are colder and beasts grow hungrier.

The Moon

During the night and dimly in the day, a large moon can be sighted in the sky. Wrapped around this moon, is a band of stars clustered together.

The Cycles of the Two Suns

For 11 years, the blue sun is the primary sun; meaning it is the more prominent. On average, the days throughout the year are warmer; suitable for life to grow. Many cultures, like the Marans determine the progress of the stellar cycle by the size of the red sun. On the 12th year, the two stars meet and give off a purplish hue.   Then on the 13th year, as each day passes, the red sun grows. This sun then becomes the more prominent sun, for another 11 years. It is these times when the days are cooler and Draguna becomes more barren. Until the 24th year when the two stars meet again and switch.
