Marble Eyes Condition in Dimday Red | World Anvil

Marble Eyes

Marble Eyes develop a rare condition due to mutated tumors growing behind their retinas. As a result, their pupils develop a grayish white color, resembling the appearance of marble. That color changes when they find themselves in intense situations, sometimes turning to tar black, while other times to blood red. Occasionally, a Marble Eyes’ emotional condition is easily recognizable from the color of their eyes.
Their vision spectrum is also affected, so they can see heat signatures in the dark, and even through objects. Their heat vision is neutralized under fluorescent light, in which case everything around them acquires a green tint.
Marble Eyes are the only people who can look directly into sunlight and spend extended periods of time outside, without sunglasses or other eye protection equipment on.   In very limited cases, Marble Eyes have premonitions, showing them events from an unspecified timeline. The visions, or ESPs, may refer to the past or the future, but sometimes they just reflect the viewer’s subconscious desires. The gifted Marble Eyes often seek guidance from Oracles, elder Marbles who have gone blind, in order to understand and control their visions.   Marble Eyes are known to go blind when they reach their 40s.
