Prison for the unworthy

The prison for the unworthy was built off the coast of Shadow city on the orders of the first shadow king Malachi who wished to build a holding pen for those the kingdom considered unworthy of being in the kingdom and who sentence was to fight in the games The prison would only be for men between the ages of 18 to 59 years of age and who were fit and healthy enough to fight in the games. The prison took ten years to build and upon completion it was said that the shadows blocked out the sun to signal that the shadow god himself approved of the construction.

The prison has seven different wings that are connected in a central hub. Each wing has two tiers of cells that could hold two men inside of them. Each cell door was made of wood painted black with ink leaving only a small opening so that food could get to the prisoners. Inside of the prison cell the walls were made of black basalt making the cell feel like it was the abyss itself. On the tiers guards walk back and forth all day making sure prisoners do not speak to each other and to remain completely silent. No sounds are allowed to be made at all. Those that do make a sound and taken out of the cell and beaten before being thrown back into the cell once again. The guards show no mercy on those that breaks the rules. If one happens to break a rule a second time, they are taken out of their cells a hood placed over their head and sent to the punishment wing

Wings of the prison

• Wing 1 - Houses the prisoners who are considered to be “ Game-ready “. These prisoners have served some time in the prison are awaiting their fate in the games. This is the only wing of the prison where prisoners are allowed out of their cells briefly per say.

• Wing 2- Houses the new arrivals at the prison. Here their name is recorded and their sentence given to them. Each prisoner is assigned a cell and given a medical check. Those that stay in this wing

• Wing 3- Houses the punishment cells for prisoners . Here prisoners are fed every three days and are subject to torture. Screams can be heard from this wing.

• Wing 4-- is the hospital wing of the prison and where experiments are conducted on prisoners. Prisoners here are forced to embrace the shadows. Also on this wing are those that lost their minds either by embracing the shadows and failing or by the total darkness of their cells

• Wing 5- Houses prisoners who have insulted the king and his family as well as broke minor laws such as not wearing the proper clothing or not praying to the Shadow god.

• Wing 6- Houses prisoners those that broke the marriage law by cheating on their spouses.

• Wing 7- Houses the followers of the goddess of love and other gods or goddess that are forbidden in the Kingdom. Prisoners here are force to pray to the shadow God daily.

Purpose / Function

The main purpose of the prison was to house those considered unworthy by society and to use them for the yearly Shadow Champion Tournament . It is why those that are sent to the prison are given a sentence at the gate and not by a court as this prison is not meant to reform them but to eventually kill them in the games. The prison in a sense is a giant holding camp for those awaiting their faith in the games which could take years for their sentence to be finally carried out. Everything about the prison is meant to root out the weak and reward the strong.

Alterations

The first alteration that has been done is that the walls had slowly been replaced by basalt. Over time a process was carried out to make the outside walls out of basalt. Another alteration is that a new building has been added inside of which is a mini arena where prisoners from the first wing are sent to prepare for the games. How they prepare nobody is quite sure but there are reports that some prisoners do not leave the mini arena alive hinting that the prison kills them during this time.
Finally another building has recently been added which houses the local church of the shadow god. The church was built using basalt and has a black basalt altar in the center of it. Everyday the prisoners line up and spill their blood on the altar to check if they have become pure or not. It is the illusion the prison gives to the prisoners that they could become free if the shadow god had declared them pure. But since it is determined by the priest, no prisoners are ever declared pure.

Architecture

Around the prison is a black high wall with towers on each of its four corners. Each tower holds two men each. Each Cellblock is made of forty cells on each side top and bottom. Each cell holds two prisoners

Nobody comes back from prison of the unworthy alive. They are sent to the yearly shadow games to fight, Nobody really knows how many are sent to the prison as nobody is allowed to visit them. But we do know that nobody comes out alive. It is a dark place and i would not wish it on anyone, not even my enemies
