Kit'de'thrak Organization in Daeliha | World Anvil

Kit'de'thrak

These damned "Protectors" keep hoarding all their useful information when, if they would share it, lots of things in this world could be improved! They should ignore the past and stop caring so much who gets the knowledge they hold.
— Common talk about Kit'de'thrak.

Kit'de'thrak is a Dracolis organization devoted to protect the old temples, named Thraksar, and recover the lost knowledge that these protected. Most of them stay on these temples for the rest of their lives or travel around, in order to try get more knowledge for the temples or because their temple has been asked for help.

Because of how much territory the group covers, it is subdivided in smaller organizations, who have same goals but work independly. The leaders met once a year, but individuals of the organization meet often to share information and keep the different groups in contact and updated.

Organization

Thraksaredak

The different groups the Kit'de'thrak are subdivided into are called Thraksaredak. Originally, there was one Thraksaredak for Dracolis species (5 in total) but nowadays, there's barely 2 groups. These groups have a main base of operation in a Thraksar and divided the world in five uneven territories, based mainly on the world's geography. This uneven territory caused some groups to be bigger than others and having more members, which also lead to having smaller bases of operations in other places.

The five territories Daeliha was divided into were: the western side of Amex (Controlled by the Draksar), the eastern side of Amex (Controlled by the Guiraksar), Uahum (Controlled by the Guidersar), Ampteres (Controlled by the Anthraksar), and Zarlor (Controlled by the Dragsar). Nowadays, the five divisions have become two, and these are divided into Amex and Uahum being under the Guidersar, and Zarlor and Ampteres being under the Dragsar.

Ranks

The subdivisions of the Kit'de'thrak, the Thraksaredak, are divided into four groups (Tenrutink, Terethink, Ket'a'sar, Rik) which are commanded by the Udre'sar. Both the Tenrutink and Terethink have two different ranks while the Rik is its own rank, as it's a special group.

Udre'sar

They make sure everything is running properly and review any possible mission that Therethink might be going to. They represent their temple and meet with other Udre'sar yearly.

The Udre'sar is choosen by voting. A few individuals present themselves as possible Udre'sar and then, the previous Udre'sar or the organization might choose some others as candidats. Once an Udre'sar is considered not worth the title (for whatever reason), voting happens to see if they have to change and who the new one would be.

Tenrutuer

They are the librarians of the organization, taking care of the Thraksar and everything inside of them. They are the second biggest group in the organization and the one that makes sure to maintain everything correct in the libraries.

E'gurinuluer

They are the ones that copy books and look around the libraries to find the oldest books and other books that need copying, whether to send a copy of it to somewhere or someone, or to make sure the book will not be destroyed because of age.

Guri'thrakuer

They are the ones that keep inventory of the library and order on it. Whenever someone has to search up something in the library, they are the ones to help with it. They restrict and allow access to the library, even to the restricted books access.

Therenuluer

They are the second smallest group in a Thraksaredak and are the ones that bring the knowledge the Kit'de'thrak hold to the world as well as bring new knowledge back to their temples. When the Udre'sar sends them to help someone, they are allowed to use hidden knowledge but not share with it unless instructed to. They are mostly traveling around the world, either keeping contact between temples or following rumours for new information.

Sag'res

They are the ones that help keep contact between temples. They are constantly on the move, from a place to another, transporting things from the temples or simply delivering messages. They are check the certain places to see if someone asked for Kit'de'thrak help. Because of how much they are travelling, they are usually allowed a week's rest when finishing their current job unless there's some urgency.

Kutaresuluer

While they are integrants of the Kit'de'thrak, they barely spend any time in the temples, compared to the rest. They are travellers and adventurers that act in name of their Thraksaredak. They are the ones that are sent when people ask help to the Kit'de'thrak but also follow rumours and anything that might lead to new information for their temples. Their travelling are paid by their temples.

Ket'a'sar

The biggest group is comprised of those in charge of the upkeep of the temples. They live together in the small towns surrounding them. Unlike the other groups, they don't have access to the library unless they request access and it is accepted by the Udre'sar.

Rik

They are Kit'de'thrak by word only, while they pass some tests and swear some oath (albeit different than the others), they never go throught the ceremony. They are given the title because someone demanded the Kit'de'thrak to give the person the title or because some major event.

The other Kit'de'thrak did not like to interact with them, as they see them unworthy of their title and usualy look down at them, ignore them or even hide information from them. Nowadays though, no Rik are accepted as the Kit'de'thrak are still regaining power.

Kit'de'thrak is a Res'ink word. It is composed by three different words: cover (kituth), in front (dek), and knowledge (thrak). It means protector of the knowledge and is only used as a title, given to the Dracolis who swear protect their old temples and whatever is inside of them.

Because its importantance and respect in the Dracolis general culture, they seem to get offended when other species translate it to their languages and call them "Protectors of the knowledge" rather than "Kit'de'thrak", so other languages also have this word, as a loanword, but its a rare and old word that only few people know and use.

Tattoos

Two tattooes appear on a Kit'de'thrak body after the joining ceremony: an icon of a Dracolis' head (generalized, not a real good representation of all Dracolis species) with the knowledge symbol (of the Dracolis culture), and a complex and detailed tattoo which drawing seems to slightly change on every wearer. Like magical tattooes, they do not fade away with time.

The first tattoo is mainly used to show that the person is a Kit'de'thrak, the second is used to open doors and locks in the temples which hide the most dangerous, secret, or forgotten knowledge. Some temples also required this tattoo to open the library doors which meant a Rik was always needed to be accompanied all the time they wanted to enter the library.

These tattoos are invisible to the normal eye until they are used. This can only really be seen on individuals that aren't Dracolis. The old ritual used for these tattoos make them so that they don't break even if a wound or a new tattoo covers it, unlike any other magical or non-magical tattoos.

The ritual to obtain the tattoos is made right after the joining ceremony and they are casted by the Udre'sar, with no-one else on the room but them and the newcomer.

Rak'kit'deksar is a Res'ink word. It is composed of three words: break (Rakuth), protector (Kit'dek), and orden (sar). The word does not have a direct translation to other languages, but it would mean something similar to Oath-breaker although rather than using it as an adjective or name to someone, it is used for a condition that someone gets if they break a Dracolis' oath they sweared to.

Duties & Responsabilities

  • Defend the temples whenever they are attacked, even if they cost one's life.
  • Don't share the knowledge unless ordered to (if so, only give the bare minimum).
  • Help other Kit'de'thrak when in need and so the allies of the temples.
  • If found new knowledge, bring it to a temple; if unsure if it's new, bring it anyways.
  • Avoid at all cost knowledge to fall into the wrong hands.
  • Getting their help

People outside of the Kit'de'thrak can ask for help when in need. There are certain places that are known to be visited by Sag'res and it is known that if one left a request for help in these places, when a Sag'res finds it, the case will be read by the Udre'sar and help will be sent.

Often, governments of countries are known to have a close relationship with the Kit'de'thrak. The governments help pay the expenses of the Thraksaredak they have closer and the Thraksaredak will send help whenever needed and keep a contact route with them.

This was the methods that were used in the ancient times, when the Kit'de'thrak were active. Nowadays, the new Kit'de'thrak are struggling to recover the favours of the governments. The old places where Sag'res used to get the help messages are sometimes used by old traditional people, who are usually desesperated for help and they do it more as a praying than because they know they'll get help.

    Joining

There's no previous qualifications one needs to join the Kit'de'thrak albeit their skills might determine where they will end up as, unless they can learn new things quick. The skills needed for their place in the Kit'de'thrak are learnt after joining.

To join, one must swear multiples oaths. These are sweared on the individual's life, but that does not mean they immediately die if they break an oath, but rather they are turned to Rak'kit'deksar. This isn't a death sentence, but their life becomes worse in many aspects, and this will only stop when their Udre'sar consider their motive to break the oath is worth, they die, or they redeem themselves.

If one is born in a temple, they are automatically considered a Kit'de'thrak. When they are out of age, they will decide to stay or leave, swearing some oaths or others depending on their answer, but they will always find a secure place with the temples.

    History

The Kit'de'thrak is an old organization, no one remembers when they started or how they started. They were very influencial around the world and revered or feared because of all the potential they had stored on their libraries. The governments paid for their services even if they might spend years without actually using their help; the pleads of people asking their help was common enough that most people knew how to indirectily reach them for help.

One thing that is known is that the organization originally was limited to Dracolis people. With the time passing and the need of more members in their ranks, the organization slowly started allowing other people to join them.

At some point in history, probably during a war, they were hunted down, and their hidden temples, discovered and destroyed. It is unknown when that happen, why it happen, or who did it, but after the temples were destroyed and its inhabitants killed, they went back to being hidden.

Centuries if not millenias passed before one of the temples were found again. The first finding of a temple was recorded by Belanor Heleris, in his diary, but what happened on his expedition gave him nightmares for the rest of his life and kept the information hidden. His diary disappeared when he died.

Nowadays there are two temples that have been discovered and with them, two Thraksaredak are reviving and slowly recovering. Their forces are low numbered, barely having started rejoining a couple of decades ago and thus, their influence is next to none for now.

The first temple that started recovering it's Thraksaredak was the Guidersar. The only thing known about it is that is commanded by Raku (who was with Belanor Heleris when he discovered the temple). The other temple is the Dragsar, which was discovered by Eris Shanan, who had her expedition financed by the late king of Eshines, Etzel Shanan.

Both groups are staying hidden albeit are in contact with each other. It is believed that the return of the Kit'de'thrak happened because a God desired it, as both Raku and Samaira (current Uder'sar of Dragsar, after the passing of Eris Shanan) have rumours that they are related to a god or have been involved with them. This divides the population of Daeliha: some are eager for them to come back as their help was always appreciated, others believe they should stop the madness and share publicy all the knowledge they have been storing for so long.

What an interesting group. I love that you've included the etymologies of the words, too. That really adds to the history and flavour of the article.   Beautiful layout too <3
