Session 18: Find the Warforged Report

Report by Campaign GM Shiftrex

General Summary

The party recovered at the local inn, regaining their strength from the large battle they had taken part in for the lord's castle. That morning around the breakfast table, a messenger from the Night Guard inquired with the tavern owner about an adventuring group called "Bitch-slap Bear-trap." After some interesting introductions, the message was delivered to the party members that came down for breakfast: the Barbarian, the Monk, the Alchemist, the Cleric and the Druid who was known for more than one good party at the castle now.   The party met with the vampire wizard, Alexander Cross, as he watched over the unconscious lord and kept him in a stasis. He explained the nature of the amulet that had been destroyed, how it was from the Tiefling culture and that they were made in pairs for partners. After a time span of six months of wearing it the amulet would no longer be necessary to "connect" two creatures and the quickest way to remove it would be to dispell the magic of the amulet directly. He gifted the party a scroll of 9th level Dispell Magic and gave them specific instructions on how to enter the shrine at Barkest.   After some discussion about the nature of Hydras and some advice from the party Alchemist, the group decided to spend some of their well-earned gold to reforge their weapons with Flare Steel. With the new metal, their weapons radiated with a magical heat that would easily burst into flame with only the slightest prompting. After that, they made the journey from Kestel towards the edge of Lake Idryll where they would find the town of Barkest. They were slowed at about mid-day by a group of goblins, bugbears and a hobgoblin that was all too familiar with the Barbarian. The ambush turned into a blood bath, both sides taking wounds and the party not escaping without a few poisoned members.   The party arrived at Barkest after emerging victorious from a difficult battle with the Hobgoblin who died with a smile on his face.
