Below

Down, down, where sunlight dies,
In shadowed depths where silence lies,
Beneath the waves, so cold and near,
A darkness waits, profound and clear.

No echoes rise, no whispers speak,
In caverns vast and current-weak.
Lost things drift in quiet gloom,
In depths below, a sunless tomb.

Bones lie scattered, pale and bare,
From ventures bold that took the dare,
Pulled down by currents thick and slow—
Claimed by secrets depths bestow.

The weight of water, deep and wide,
Presses close from every side.
A grave so vast, with walls unseen,
Where fear and wonder lie between.

And should you dive to find its heart,
To see the depths and know its dark,
You’ll find yourself forever lost,
In endless depths, the final cost.
