Elvish is the default language of the elves or elf adjacent creatures, To the untrained, it is a fine, romantic language spoken of only highly. In reality, it is a dialect of Sylvan like any other language or variant of common. The distinction helps filter out those who find elves to be examples of a 'perfect' species of people, vs the reality that they are like any other diverse culture.
The elves themselves do not buy into this, living their lives integrated (or separated) from other cultures who will have them.
