Thanatomancy

Thanatomancy is the magical discipline that deals with life and death.

Thanatomantic abilities

This magical discipline has two main abilities:

Health transference

A Thanatomancer can transfer any kind of illness or wound from another creature to themselves and vice-versa, to the point where they can give up their life for someone who is about to die. However, once a person is dead, no thanatomancer will be able to restore their life. The only side-effect of this ability is that the caster will receive exactly the same thing they are removing from another creature.   This ability might seem a bit harmless at first sight, but with enough sense of strategy (and some madness too), a thanatomancer could, for example, shot a gun at their gut and immediately after transfer the wound to their enemies.

Life sense

When a thanatomancer enables their life sense, all living beings surrounding them will shine with a white light that only the biomancer will be able to see. The light is visible from the other side of solid opaque materials such as iron or concrete. The thanatomancer generally needs to have their eyes open in order to see the lights, and will only be able to see lights inside their field of vision.   This can be a very useful ability for people who need to be sneaky or avoid being seen (which is why the Dark Ghosts have many thanatomancers among their ranks). However, while the thanatomancer has their life sense enabled, their body will emanate an equally bright light visible to everyone. This side-effect can be partially mitigated by wearing clothing, as the light is emitted from the body, not from the clothes.
Well... I mean, sure, I could heal him and avoid his death. But, you know, I would die. And I don't want to die yet, so I'll pass.
— Thanatomancer to a very badly hurt person, overheard in the streets.
