Blight Eater

The plains north of Bard's Gate are interrupted by the desolation that surrounds Tsar. It is here where a curious new lifeform has come to be: the blight eater. It consumes power from undead, turning their unlife to life. Once this beetle-like creature has absorbed enough power it bursts forth and spreads a new clutch of hatchlings.
Necromancers collect them as souvenirs with differenct colors having different effects on various necromancy spells. These effects are all minor and mostly cosmetic in nature. But hey, being around necromatic magic doesn't have to be all black ya dig?

About the size of a fist, they travel in swarms hunting down the roving skeletons that have stalked Desolation since that great seige against Evil.
Forces surrounding Tsar have taken notice and begun to eradicate these pests concerned that their power may grow and begin to challenge greater undead. Whatever plans Orcus has for this area, it is never wise to keep vampires near hearth and home.
This species has never been seen elswhere in the world and no records exist the speak of any power quite like this. The colleges of Bard's Gate have begun initial research into their abilities using only the best of underpaid grauate students.
The hope is to distill an extract from them to help out the fight against the immortal Huun who laid seige to the city a mere 3 years ago.
Thus far the religious institutions have shown no interest, believing that anything born of the Desolation is not of the gods. Experimental magics used by both sides during the seige did irrepairable damage to the environment.
