Waystone

Waystones were invented several thousand years ago on the Elemental Sea to help navigate the otherwise impossible to navigate ocean. Similar items have shown up on many planes, some being copied front the elemental sea version. But despite the name they can take many forms and don’t necessarily have a physical object, though most do.
To use them you need a Waystone Compass or some sort of location spell. If using the compass you also need to know the magic resonance of the waystone, typically this is done via a small stone what can be set into the compass. If using a location spell, the range is typically far greater than normal due to the magic of the stone.
