The Crystals

Crystals are physical manifestations of condensed runic magic that naturally occur in areas with high ambient magic. certain dimensions and enviroments tend to produce more crystals than others. These crystals can be utilized or ingested to gain runic magic based on the color and type of the crystal.

Crystals form when the same type of rune has been used in the same enviroment over and over again. For instance in the Feywild, Trick runes manifest everywhere almost like berries, and in Avernus, fire crystals are just as common. Creatures gain overtime gain this magic from lifetimes of ingesting the same type of crystal, like displacer beasts or mimcs.

Crystals are often utilized in place of batteries for weapons and devices that need a more prominent and focused power source. They can also be used as modifiers, to add their magical properties to devices that can receive and utilize them in some way.

Even the Coalition utilizes crystals, taking large amounts of one runic crystal and blending it with a trusted naval officers food and drink to turn them into a Navarch.
