Elissa Andis

The Daughter of the Revolutionary, and the spark to ignite the powder keg

There will not be a day that goes by that I won't think of you Elissa, I love you so much.
Emily Raien before Elissa's execution
There a few individuals more famous within the Federation than Elissa Andis, the famed rebel unjustly executed by a tyrannical government. Her death would spark Civil War, and drastically alter the future of the nation. Her short life was one of rebellion, and activism, and was so impactful that its effects linger on into the 5th millennium.   Born and raised on the metropolitan capital of the Federation, Anfieden, during a period of extreme political turmoil, Elissa quickly became an ardent supporter of several anti-government groups from a very young age. Her father - Aradio Andis, was already a famed political activist, and it wasn't long before Elissa joined him.   (slight rewrite underway)
Elissa Liara Andis was a Federation activist and rebel who played a key part in the Andis Revolt. She would serve as a prominent leader of rebel forces against the Federation Federal Government, alongside her father - Aradio Andis, and her three brothers. On September 22nd, 3463, at the age of 27, and three years after the Andis Revolt had ended, Elissa would be executed by lethal odourless ingestion, making her the youngest person ever legally executed in both the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets, and the entire Galaxy of Astraesto. The death penalty has since been outlawed in all major Astraestoian nations.   Throughout her life, Elissa participated in numerous protests, and later riots, mainly those in opposition to the current Federation Federal Government. Though she also involved herself in humanitarian and social issues. She also served as a close advisor and lieutenant to her father throughout the Andis Revolt. She was seen by many at the time as the 2nd in command of the revolt, as well as the official face, after the death of Aradio. This power over the revolt was the primary reason her death was so sought after by President Michael Oberyn and his administration.   Her execution would spark further and even more violent unrest however, which would eventually culminate in the 1st Federation Civil War. President Oberyn would be deposed, and a new government established. She has become a national icon for the modern-day Federation, her life is mandatory to study as part of the national school curriculum, and thousands of monuments across hundreds of worlds have been constructed to honour her.   In 3499, President Benjamin Picket would posthumously award her the Presidential Citizen's Award and Medal, the highest citizen's award within the Federation. The award would later be renamed the Elissa Andis Award and Medal, to celebrate her contributions and life. The name remains in place to this day and continues to be awarded to important and valued citizens of the Federation.

Early Life

Elissa was born on the 7th July, 3436, in the Gleeden District on Anfieden, to Aradio Andis and Jessica Parka. She was the third child and second youngest of the couple. Elissa was also the only daughter of Aradio Andis, with her three other siblings all being boys. Denver was the eldest child, followed by Mattias, and finally, Logan.   At this point, Aradio has only just begun to garner popularity among the working classes of Anfieden, as he began to organise protests and led marches against the Federation Federal Government under President Michael Oberyn. He had, earlier in the morning of July 7th, been arrested by the Anfieden Planetary Police, but with the assistance of his close ally and friend, Federation Army General Liam Duwell, he was released just in time to witness the birth of Elissa.   After Elissa was born, and despite the best efforts of Duwell, Aradio was again arrested by the Planetary Police, and this time sentenced to prison for a decade. Though he would end up only serving 8 years. In 3445, Ellisa's third brother - Logan Andis, was born. Along with her other siblings, Elissa attended the public school Gleeden Heights.

Early Activism

Elissa would first join her father and elder brothers in activism by joining the March of Unity and Freedom - led by her father. The march was held in December, 3449 when she was 13 years old. She would continue to join her father and brothers throughout her teenage years, also participating as a speaker in many of the protests she and her family attended.   On her 16th birthday, she participated in an anti-government protest without the aid of her father and brothers. This protest was notable due to a heavy police response, with Elissa herself being injured and subsequently arrested. She would spend the rest of her birthday in a cell, before being bailed out by Duwell at Aradio's request.   Anfieden's head Police Commissioner Clayton Trainor saw an opportunity to deal a blow to Aradio Andis. In juvenile court, Police forces attempted to get the maximum sentence possible for Elissa. Even using doctored evidence, which showed her assaulting a police officer before her arrest - though this evidence was discredited during proceedings and greatly hurt the police case. Despite this, judge Kailan Alexio remained staunchly opposed to letting Elissa off lightly, with his hatred of Elissa's father being made very clear. Aradio would accuse the judge of bias in the media, and Elissa's defence lawyer Kelly Graham attempted to force a mistrial - through her efforts would fail.   In the end, Elissa would be found guilty of "Participating in an unlawful protest" and "Disrupting the public peace", and sentenced to one and a half years in a juvenile detention facility. The only thing that saved her from spending the next few years in prison was her age.

Juvenile Prison

Elissa would be sent to Flasant Creek Juvenile Hall for the duration of her sentence. The Juvenile Facility was specifically chosen by the judge because of its reputation for harsh treatment and a strict reeducation program.   But instead of falling aside, and losing motivation for continuing her protests, Elissa instead became somewhat of a leader for the young residents of Flasant Creek Juvenile Hall.

Execution

On September 22nd 3463, at 13:12 (Anfiden) CST, while Elissa was just 27 years old, she was executed by lethal odourless ingestion. Before her execution, she was allowed three visitors, in the end only using one, for her fiancé Emily Raien. The rest of her family was dead, and most of her friends either shared their fate or sat imprisoned. The poison took 14 seconds to kill her, with her final words cursing Oberyn and half the elected officials that held senatorial offices.   It has been widely believed that President Obeyn had a personal stream of the execution from the safety of the Presidential Estate, though this has never been explicitly proven, and most of Oberyn's government officials and their aides - even those that later opposed Oberyn during the 1st Federation Civil War, deny the theory. Even still, it persists to this day, though it is classed by most as a conspiracy theory - even if most would not disregard it out of hand.

Legacy

Elissa's fiancé, Emily Raien would later serve as the President of the Federation.   Over a thousand years after her death, Elissa Andis would be the namesake for Elissa, Princess of Waverli. An Apalachian Princess born in Iomhare to King Lucius IX and Queen Franscesca.
