The Green Faith

In the early days of the world, When Dragons, Giants, and Elves held rule, Many druids of Astora chose not to worship the new gods, but place their belief in the natural forces of the world. This basis of belief was called the Green Faith, the Old Faith, or the Wyrd. They believed that the elemental forces were of paramount importance to nature, and existed in four factions, each devoted to one element (Water, Earth, Fire, and Air). It is unknown as to whether this practice was a good aligned offshoot from the Cult of Elemental Evil, or if their belief structure predates even the Elder Elemental Eye.   The Green Faith was primarily practiced by Elves, but several early human tribes were brought into the faith by them and spread the practice amongst each other as well. While never a prolific practice, it had followers dispersed throughout early Astora, and was the dominant form of druidic practice for several millennia.   The Green Faith had a strong emphasis on oral tradition, and so very little of their teachings was ever put into written form. What little was exists entirely in stone carvings, whether on tablets or carved into cave walls and cliff-sides. With the rise of human civilization after the Crown Wars, druidic orders worshiping the various nature deities rose in prominence, and practitioners of the Green Faith slowly faded from the world. It is unknown if all who practiced the old ways are gone, or if there are still some pockets remaining where the Old Faith is still practiced.
