Description
As a goddess, Mystra can shape change at will, and mortals who have seen her report that she changes constantly. Others have described her appearing in a form resembling a multicolored will-o'-wisp.
Realm
Mystra's realm is that of the Weave.
Dogma
The church of Mystra preserves magical lore so that magic can continue and flourish in the future even if the dominant civilizations of Astora were to fall. Its members were encouraged to seek out those skilled in magic or with the skills to use it, keeping a close eye on those with potential. They were also encouraged to explore magical theory, create new spells, and produce magical items. As the keeper and protector of the Weave, Mystra preached an attitude of reverence, respect, and restraint with the use of magic. Reckless use of it, and attempts to cast beyond the limits of power she set for mortal practitioners are antithetical to her teachings, and those who worship her strive to counter such activities.
Worshipers
As the goddess of magic, Mystra finds a strong following amongst wizards, sorcerers, and other arcane spellcasters who recognize her role in the arts the practice. While her followers are not the most devout amongst the gods, they are fairly numerous. Unlike most of the gods, Mystra does not demand the worship of her followers, nor does she seek to expand her following. Instead, it is her teachings on the treatment of magic that she seeks to spread amongst the mortal races.
Clergy
Mystran clergy don deep blue robes embroidered with silver, and predominantly wear the holy symbol of Mystra: a circle of seven blue-white stars with red mist flowing from the center.
Many of Mystra's clergy wander the land as itinerant clerics, seeking out and preserving old magic, cataloguing sites of arcane anomolies, and attempting to repair places where the connection to the weave has been damaged.
Others found places of worship to the Mistress of Magic, providing aid to those seeking to master the arcane arts, or those who have been harmed by wild magic or misuse of it.
Temples
Mystran temples were often ornate structures, often using architecture that would not be possible without the assistance of magic. Some utilize extra-dimensional spaces to fit great halls into seemingly small buildings, others seem to almost float in the sky as they are supported by narrow, magically reinforced pillars. All are open to the public, and offer several services for those in need.
While not providing many of the curative and restorative services typical of divine temples, Mystran temples do offer aid in correcting magic that has gone awry. Unintentional polymorphs, permanent effects from miscast or maliciously cast magic, Arcane derived insanity, and many other mishaps and maladies can be tended to and cured by clerics of Mystra.
Sites dedicated to the goddess are enhanced by the Weave to allow spells cast by her clerics within them to be greatly enhanced.
Rituals
Rituals are not generally practiced amongst followers of Mystra, and what they would consider religious services often take the form of spellcasting or astronomy displays and lessons.
