Miserable Pity

Miserable Pity

Abjuration [emotion, mind-affecting]
Level: Artificer* 2, Bard* 2, Sorcerer*/Wizard * 2, Warlock* 2
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Range: touch
Target: creature touched
Duration: 1 round/level and 1 minute; see text
Saving Throw: Will negates, see text
Spell Resistance: yes
Any opponent attempting to directly attack the warded creature, even with a targeted spell, must attempt a Will Save. If the save succeeds, the opponent can attack normally and is unaffected by that casting of the spell. If the save fails, the opponent can't follow through with the attack, that part of its action is lost, and it can't directly attack the warded creature for the duration of the spell.
A creature failing its save against miserable pity will feel a strong sense of pity toward the target, as if it were weak, pathetic, and not a threat. If the target breaks the spell by attacking, any creature that failed its save against the spell gains a +2 Morale Bonus on attack rolls against the target for 1 minute.
Those not attempting to attack the subject remain unaffected. This spell does not prevent the warded creature from being attacked or affected by area of effect spells. The subject cannot attack without breaking the spell but may use non-attack spells or otherwise act.
