Control Shape

Any character who has contracted lycanthropy and is aware of their condition automatically gains Control Shape as a class skill (An afflicted lycanthrope not yet aware of his condition can attempt Control Shape checks untrained). This skill determines whether an afflicted lycanthrope can control their shape. A natural lycanthrope does not need this skill, since they have full control over their shape.

Check

Involuntary Change: An afflicted character must make a check at moonrise each night of the full moon to resist involuntarily assuming animal form. An injured character must also check for an involuntary change after accumulating enough damage to reduce their hit points by one-quarter and again after each additional one-quarter lost.
On a failed check, the character shifts into either animal or hybrid form at the beginning of their next turn (roll randomly), and remains so until the next dawn, when they automatically return to their base form, or until rendered Unconscious. If they fail their check by 10 or more, they also lose control of themselves for the duration as their affliction takes over.
Voluntary Change: An afflicted lycanthrope aware of their condition may attempt to use this skill voluntarily in order to change to animal form, assume hybrid form, or return to humanoid form, regardless of the state of the moon or whether they have been injured.

Action

Shifting form takes a Standard Action. If a creature is involuntarily shifted, they automatically shift at the start of their next turn, using a Standard Action to do so.

Try Again

A character can retry voluntary changes to animal form or hybrid form as often as they like. Each attempt is a Standard Action.

Restrictions

If a character has lost control of themselves while shifted cannot attempt to shift back until their current state has run its course (until dawn or until rendered Unconscious, whichever comes first).
A character attempting to shift back from an involuntary change loses control of themselves if they fail the check by 10 or more.
A character attempting to shift back from a voluntary change loses control of themselves if they roll a natural 1.

Special

An afflicted lycanthrope cannot attempt a voluntary change until they become aware of its condition.
A shifted lycanthrope returns to human form when knocked Unconscious.
