The Fusion Ring is a cultural icon for everyone on the Planet Cynder. It is an item that was passed down from the ancient times, correlated with their old marriage traditions.
When a couple gets married, they're both given a Fusion Ring for free by the government. They're allowed to decide what they want the ring to look like and are able to choose what gemstone they want to be held within the ring.
This ring allows the two of them to combine their bodies and put both souls into one vessel.
When they combine, they're temporarily put into a moment of stasis. Within this moment, they both focus on what they want the body to look like, mixing and matching the traits and genes from both bodies. The alteration of the body will alter the body stats held on The Stattoo. They will also be able to choose the gender of this new body, usually (but not always) resulting in a hermaphroditic set of genitals.
The couple will have to learn to cope with two minds in one body, and being able to hear the other's every thought. This will also alter The Stattoo by adding a secondary Soul stat sheet.

Non-Marital Uses

You can purchase a ring if you're not married. This will allow you to fuse with others before marriage, but it is usually frowned upon. Some people do this to combine with others with complimenting Aberrations, and that allows them to reach a higher level.

Fun Fact

By the nature of the magic that creates the ring, it can also be altered to allow more than two beings to combine, and does not only limit the same-species to combine. For instance, a human and a cat can fuse together [which has been done by Cloud, the leader of the Meowfia. He used the ring as a collar.]. This also shows the rings are not limited to size or shape.
This also means that two distinct rings are not linked, and you can link with anyone else with a fusion ring. That does not mean you're compatible to fuse though.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The fusion ring works in tandem with another user's fusion ring. It also links with the wearer's body and soul.
It uses the reality-altering powers of one of the few known Ancient magics that are remaining, to power the ring's ability. This magical energy is held within the ring's gemstone, created by an inscription rune on the outside of the ring.
Once it touches another Fusion gemstone, the two beings fuse together.
