SC24 Reading Challenge
My Summer Camp
So, this was my original pledge and I'm happy to report that I made it. Did I start two or three articles, forget all about it and then went and finish the rest of the work during the final week of the challenge? Yes. But I made it. And now I have eight articles and a stub where a month ago there was nothing so I'm proud of myself for giving it a go. I have started and it feels good! Being my first Summer Camp (not to mention my first attempt at worldbuilding) I didn't really know what to expect regarding the prompts and how would I be able to tackle them. What I've found more surprising about the expirience is that once I started with the first article it all sort of started snowballing to the point that seven out of the eight articles ended up being more or less related to eachother. I also don't know what to think about the fact that, even though I was so excited about the third theme, belief, I just managed to write one prompt in that batch and it wasn't something religious or anything. Still happy with my progress though.Reading Challenge
I'll be probably revisiting all the articles to add more information or edit some stuff while I work on other ideas so I might as well give this other challenge a go to prevent myself from doing it a little to early. Let's do some reading then:A sickness that caused societal upheaval
Hostia Plague by SirjwinsalotA displaced people in your world
Void Nomads by Jester%An environmental or other large-scale natural disaster
The tree awakening by LariaA character who goes through a great change or metamorphosis
Madam Mariposa by Evilyn Carnate. I couldn't leave a comment here but it was a nice read. I liked how the metamorphosis feels both physical and metaphorical.A document that changed the course of history
The blank script stone by AngantyrA naturally sheltered place
El pantano veloz (Spanish) by JoheA personal item that keeps you safe
Dirty Socks by Paul Norris (a surprisingly emotional read)A species with protective anatomy
Goats by Violin99The practices and ceremonies of worship
Elemental Spiritualist's Methods of Worship by anc789simsA tradition that represents moral decay
Goat racing by TuiskuA tradition that gives comfort
Tuulammanulaasosa by KittymonsterA faction of an organization built around belief
Tirta Baya by DemongreyA profession that is considered dirty
Bronze Wardens by TyrdalWorldbuilding Goals
For the next half year I'd like to expand the article about the Otinob, as well as working on the other two main ethnicities in Airebi (one of which doesn't even have a name yet. When I first opened the Ethnicity template to write the entry for Summer Camp I just wasn't ready for all the suggestions I was going to find about the kind of information I could add to the article. And now I kind of want to fill it all in. Well, maybe not all. In every article. But it did give me quite a lot to think about. Another thing I'd like to be working on is a map. I've mentioned a couple of places in some of my entries and now I'd like to know where they are. I'll probably spend the rest of the summer tinkering with this and reading some more WA articles.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
Great job on your first Summer Camp, and congrats on the copper badge! I also tend to end up having the prompts snowball into related articles, and find it fun when I can give my readers a bit of a red thread to follow during the event. And thank you so much for your comment and feature on Tuulammanulaasosa, I really appreciate it. <3
Thank you! I'm looking forward to learning more about the foroot and the Rosepetal galaxy
