Book Overview -- Seas and Stars

Seas and Stars is a pirate adventure starring Montavious Jones, Nazara Kohari, and Cornelius █████ IV. In a world where backstabbing is a way of life, where spies are everywhere, and where high sea adventures are just not quite adventerous enough.

Come and join in on the scandals, the robberies, and the booty!

However, not all is fun and games out in space and on the the seas. There are dangerous things, not just the people. The high gales that appear out of nowhere, the gravity of a star that drags the ship towards death are all real dangers.

You have been warned. It's a pirate's life, and a pirate's life is not for everyone.

Themes

The main theme of Seas and Stars is community. Throughout the story the three main characters are each "alone" in some way. CJ uses fake names, and uses his skills as an actor to hide whatever traits he so desires. He does not allow people to get close to him or understand him. Nazara, who is physically distant from her team and "alone" in the sense that the people around her are strangers, shows how one can be alone, even when surrounded by friendly people. Monty is "alone" because that is how he grew up. For half of his life, he lived and survived on his own. He never called anyone a friend or had any real family for the majority of his life.

These characters will all showcase loneliness whether it be self-inflicted, circumstantial, or environmental. The characters will grow together and eventually come together to form a community, a friendship, and just maybe even a family. A secondary theme of Seas and Stars is being honest with people or yourself and learning to forgive. Being honest with yourself is a theme that focuses on Nazara and her internal hate and bitterness. Learning to be honest with others is a lesson that CJ must learn, and learning to forgive is something that Monty must learn.
