Best described as Bee People, Halids set up Hives near most major cities. Access to Hives is very tightly controlled with only a select few Halid groups allowed to leave, and only they are allowed to enter. The Hive is run by a queen who only communicates with the outside via envoy. Though little about their society is known due to the control of information, there are some windows into the hive due to defectors. These defectors are the rare Halids that either do not fit into Hive society, or are displeased about their life in the Hive. The Hive is divided into very strict gender specific classes: The Royals- This caste consists of the Queen and queen candidates. In order to become Queen the candidates must compete in brutal battle royal style match for the Royal Jelly. The losers of the match, if they survive, are executed as part of the crowning festival for the new Queen. Workers- More female Halids that are responsible for all of the tasks that need to be done throughout the Hive. These are the ones that produce the ViSyn stones that support the Hive as well as well as maintain the Hive’s structure and protect it. Drone Harem- Male Halids who mate with the Queen. They have taken on the task of being Emissary of the queen. They leave the Hive and deal with trade partners since the queen never leaves the Hive. Guard Drones- Massive male Halids that ate tasked with guarding their hive. Their sheer size and thick carapace make them a daunting opponent. However, like many drones they have very little intelligence of their own and will only do what they have specific orders to do. A female Halid is typical tasked as a commander, changing their orders as she deems necessary. Courier Drones- They are the few Halids that are allowed outside the Halid Compounds. They are typically tasked with retrieving goods for the hive hive they belong to. For more complex tasks a worker may be set with a team of courier drones to coordinate.
