Alter Self

This transmutation spell allows the caster to assume a different form. While assuming this alternate form, the caster does not gain the special abilities of the creature they decide to shift into.

Effect

The spell allows you to attain one of the following effects:   Aquatic Adaption. This effect adapts you to an aquatic environment by sprouting gills and webbing between your fingers.
Change Appearance. This effect allows the caster to assume a different physical form by shifting their weight, height, and even race. This change can not bring the caster into a different size category.
Natural Weapons. This effect grows claws, fangs, spines, or horns on the caster's body. This allows them to attack using these appendages.

Discovery

This spell was invented by the Netherese archmage Quantoul in -2028 DR, during Netheril's Golden Age. It was originally known as Quantoul's Alterer and has been used by many mages and sorcerers since.
