Ithen'drels - Dral'azie City States

Ithen'drel is a term referring to the Area of influence surrounding a city state ruled by a Dral'azie Great house. It is the dominion of that Greathouse's Ilthicess/Ilthecel (Depending on the Great Houses ruling structure).   The Ithen'drels were carved out after the chaos of the Sundering and the subsequent 'Third Founding', what Dral'azie scholars have coined the 'Isolation Period'. Other earlier Ithen'drels had been created during the second founding, however most of these had either perished or were brought to ruin during the backlash of the Sundering. Only the Ithen'drel of House Skartus managed to survive these turbulent years. The details of how they survived however are unknown, even to the descendants of the house.   The survivors of the Sundering had descended into the Underworld in droves, headed by well-equipped and provisioned nobles and their warriors. Many fresh from the battlefield of the surface where they had fought and lost against their hated kin. The refugees were scared and afraid of the new world they had descended into, unsure of what to expect in the underworld they had fled to. Others were bitter and twisted from the events that had transpired, harbouring overwhelming hatred for the surface that had shunned them. Thus with no order in the chaos they clung to any strong authoritarian figure. Some sought the pretender Itholren Queen and her creed, however most nobles and military leaders refused to acknowledge Zalneth Itholrens authority.   This lead to the nobles, military and spiritual leaders splitting off on their own path into the Underworld. The refugees, instead of cowering in the caverns they had spilled into, followed these individuals in the hope they would lead them to a new paradise. While a large number followed the ambitions of the disillusioned nobility, others followed the remnants of the temples clergy seeking a new seat for their religion this new world.   Many of these groups were lead into disaster, venturing into dangerous parts of the Underworld, never to be heard from again. In many cases, explorers and treasure hunters centuries later have discovered the remains of these expeditions.   The groups headed by the most well equipped and organised of the noble houses managed to find a safe haven, and place to settle in the Underworld. Either ruins from the world above, swallowed up by the cataclysmic events of the Sundering, or finding verdant areas, abundant with all that was necessary to start a new home. However, in a number of cases a few of these groups came across second founding settlements deciding to either negotiate terms or take them by force. In each event, began to foundation of settlements, many of which would become the later Ithen'drels.   Each of these Ithen'drels have their own unique origin story. In the end of this settlement phase, thirteenth Ithen'drels emerged, developing and expanding their influence into the underworld, completely isolated from one another for a couple of centuries. It is this period where the 'Isolation' age is derived from.   Each of these Ithen'drels origin stories are in reverence to a founder considered to be a saviour in their own eyes, an individual or individuals they believe to be divinely chosen to lead them to safety.
