The Western Cove & and The Spirit of Yvari

Written by: Western Keeper Nohi
There is a small cove at the base of the mountains of the Western Air Temple, bursting with the colors of life and nature. Filled with fish, turtles, dolphins, and a wonderful array of ocean flora, it is beautiful and mostly untouched by humankind. Wanderers and storytellers speak of the ancient Yvari, a spirit with the torso of an elegant woman, and the tail of a koi fish with a myriad of rainbow scales that would shimmer as she swam.

Yvari was incredibly tall and broad, embodying the strength and vitality of natural life, and made this cove her home, embuing the surrounding area with her strength and that of the spirits with the more time she spent there.

It is often believed that Yvari only kept one human companion, a young girl who would often escape the caves of the Western Temple to visit the spirit and the fish and spend time playing amongst the sand with the sun radiant on her skin. Yvari was peaceful and often kept to herself, but the giggles of this child gave her great joy.

The Spirit Yvari of The Western Cove
The child would spend many days at the cove, returning to the caves and her piers scolding her for neglecting her early nomad lessons. She did not mind, and would often tell the other children of the great spirit and the beautiful beach.

To this day, when visiting the cove it is often reported to feel a wave of refreshing tranquility wash over you, the mind becoming closer to the wildlife around and the body revitalized. Many travelers wish to see the cove with hopes of encountering the koi spirit, but no sightings have been reported in many years. Occasionally, a child will run to their elders with stories of a giant fish with wondrous scales, or a lady of incredible beauty swimming amidst the waves, but none of these stories are ever verified.

The cove remains a hub of vitality and life, with many a nomad visiting to relieve stress, but as time passes the stories of Yvari are becoming quieter and further in-between. Many wonder at the true nature of the cove, and fewer still will ever know, but those that do spread the tale of the koi spirit of incredible serenity.
