Agnosticism
Agnosticism is a philosophical belief system centered on uncertainty toward divine existence and the rejection of absolute religious claims. It was once the dominant worldview.
Following the Apocalypse and the widely witnessed divine voice that accompanied the return of the sun, Agnosticism has sharply declined, giving way to more faith-driven religions such as the Voice of Pacifism.
Structure
Agnosticism has no centralized authority or formal hierarchy.
History
For much of recorded history, Agnosticism was the most widespread worldview across the known world.
In the absence of clear and undeniable divine presence, most societies adopted a cautious stance toward religion. While myths, cults, and local beliefs existed in many regions, few were universally accepted as truth. Instead, Agnosticism emerged naturally as a shared philosophical position: that the existence and nature of gods could not be known with certainty.
This perspective influenced entire civilizations. It encouraged the development of philosophy, natural study, and structured governance, often limiting the rise of dominant religious authorities. In many regions, including the Kingdom of Asperia, it aligned closely with doctrines promoting balance, moderation, and disciplined thought.
This long-standing worldview was fundamentally shaken by the Apocalypse.
When the sun vanished and later returned, a divine voice was reportedly heard across vast parts of the world. Unlike previous myths or localized beliefs, this event was experienced simultaneously by countless individuals across distant lands. For many, it served as undeniable proof of a higher power’s existence.
In the years that followed, Agnosticism rapidly declined. Its central premise—that divinity could not be confirmed—was challenged on a global scale. Populations that had long relied on reason and uncertainty began turning toward belief, seeking meaning and guidance in the aftermath of the Apocalypse.
New religions emerged or rose in prominence, most notably the Voice of Pacifism, which gained widespread adherence in the wake of the event.
Today, Agnosticism persists, but no longer as the dominant worldview.
