The Petals of Dust

When the fields bloom blue and the light tears through
beware what's to come and what's to ensue...
For the rifts will tear and the Void will come
and will not stop 'til the day is won...
— Translated from the Time Spire
In the lands of the Wastes where an ancient blight, deific levels of magic, and earth-shattering battles ravaged and scarred the lands permanently, there are pockets of land where patches of small flowers grow, gray in appearance and covering large expanses of sand. The petals are soft to the touch and can be plucked from a cluster, however, if not treated with anything or preserved properly, the flower(s) will be no more than dust after a day.   While not the only plant to thrive in the harsh and near barren lands of the Wastes, it is one of the few flowers that needs nourishment from a supernatural source. Whereas other flora need water to survive in this magically infused desert, the small dust flowers grow in large clusters where energies from dark battles and where great evil took a stand, destroying the remnants of the twisted energies and instead converting them to something else.   The magical uses of this flower is limited to an alchemist's skill but if used correctly, the petals can be used in imbuement runes, tattoos, and potions.

The Blue Flowers of Dust

For some mysterious reason, some patches of gray dust flowers can be seen growing in places that have nothing to do ancient battlegrounds or evil sites. Yet, there they are.   It was discovered by a diviner who for some bizarre reason cast a divining spell on these flowers while they were in the ground, that he realized that he ought to wait for a specific type of weather. On that day, when the skies were overcast and rain fell in light showers, the gray flowers glowed a faint blue revealing it to be a different variant entirely and present with a beautiful magical aura separate of its dormant state. It was then that the mage realized that while of the same appearance, the blue variant was instead foretelling of something bound to happen there and not of something that had happened before.   Because of this, there have been mysterious sites noted around the world seen in various natural weathers and one thing to note is that sometimes these fields can merely disappear one day. Researchers have come to believe that this means that something occurred to change the fate of the location and no one knows whether it was simply averted or moved.   No matter, it is due to the efforts of the Speakers, that all blue fields that are discovered be well-documented and researched with knowledge of the area spread to local areas to get the message out to others who may know of what is to come.
