Returning to the Tomb of Experiments

General Summary

Previously...

After defeating the abominable forces of the mad mage and freeing the souls of the four sons of Dawnwood, the Blight Company, their unintentional guide, and the defenders of the town were lauded as heroes. A house within Prilim's borders was given to each of the strangers that fought and whatever gold the town could put together was offered in a show of gratitude.
 

The Arrival of the Mithral Guard

A day after the battle, a contingent of Mithral Guard rallied by Swan finally arrived and while late, they offered their support to the town. The straightforward captain, Sir Belmont the Lovely, met with the party and eventually the Dawnwoods. After learning of what happened as well informing them that they were made aware of the laboratory and had sent people there to investigate, he offered the group to either ride with them or ahead if they wished to return to the laboratory.   Before leaving, Swan was able to persuade Lady Alanis that it was best to stay with her family admitting that the group could go after the mage and into Räehal. To keep in contact, the lady gave them the name and location of an ally that they could meet with and a sending stone to let her know what they find (or to inform her if they give up on this quest).  

The Return to the Mad Mage's Lab

After a few days travel, the contingent and group arrived at the front of the manor. However, after leaving a rocky impression with the head archivist of the site, Swan split off in order to smooth relations and distract while the others went down their side entrance into the lab. Deciding to take from the armory first, the four discovered a host of objects but just as they were about to leave, Bello's cybernetic arm reacted to the presence of a side door with a warning written on top.   Just as Swan reunited with them, Bello revealed that his arm was warning him of something beyond the door and requested that the group destroy what was on the other side. Realizing they were on a time crunch with another part of the basement yet to be investigated, the others agreed to circle back once they found and took what they could.  

Looting the Storage Area

Careful of the beast they knew to be under the grates, the group made their way to where they had met the elf and recovered the arm that Bello currently used. After another round of investigations, they realized that there was a long hallway and that led to an ever bigger storage area. After another round of searching, this time concentrating on what magical items they could find, they heard something large slithering towards them.   Using a conjured abberation to attract the beast's attention while they attempting to hide, the party waited to attack-- only to be met with the force of a colossal snake-like beast. Devouring the aberration before targetting the last person that attacked it, the beast slithered into the room, only a fragment of itself on the surface. While Xand was charmed by the beast during the fight, the combined efforts of the others and the final blow from a raging paladin ended the charm and eliminated the threat not only to them but the Mithral gaurd and archivists.  

A Familiar Face

Returning to the armory in order to deal with the problem brought up earlier, the group cautiously approached the door. Using the master key card that was recovered on their first trip, the group saw that inside was a column with what looked to be a human with a black metallic arm floating in water.   While Swan peeked in to survey the room, noting the designation of the experiment being "Subject 1" and the presence of four automatons (of the same kind) and a larger one in the back of the room, the other four recognized the face of the man-- the mithral guard werewolf that they had run into a few weeks before. Immediately the party fell into an argument and while Xand and Akmal explained who it was just as the latter was closing the door, the eyes of the experiment opened and reached out right seemingly for help before the door was relocked.   Another argument then broke out amongst the party after Swan casted Sending to Belmont requesting his aid. While Xand wanted to leave the experiment to the hands of the Mithral Guard stating that it was their man and now their problem, both Bello and Swan wished not only help what was seemingly the last experiment in the lab but extract the arm from him hoping to save him.

The Houses and Land

Each member of the Blight Company along with Swan were gifted a small one bedroom house within the town limits and a small plot of land to do with what they wish.

Turned into a free inn for any traveler who needs rest, taken care of by the town. A garden is created on the plot of land with whatever unused returned to the town for farming.

Given and furnished to the Traenis family, one that was in need of the house even before the attack.
