Tenets of the Brotherhood of Mages
The tenets and the code that the Brotherhood live by are as follows:
- The Arch Mage has absolute supremecy over all magic.
- The Brotherhood serves Valyria and Valyria only. A mage has no family but the Inaugrion.
- The use of directed magic against a citizen of Valyria is forbidden unless it is in self defense or in the defense of another Valyrian citizen.
- A mage must intercede when a dragonrider uses their dragon to initiate an attack upon Valyria or her citizens.
- The Arch Mage serves for life and upon his death an election will be held for his successor before his body is burned.
- It is forbidden to perform necromancy or create chimeras through magical means.
- It is forbidden for a mage to interfere with the successional bonding of a dragon to a rider.
- Practicing, foreign powerful magic users must be reported or detained if the mage is capable.
- It is forbidden to enthrall another through the use of magic.
- It is forbidden to partake in binding shadows
