The Cult of Hel

The Cult of Hel are a group in the Norselands and possibly elsewhere that reject the Aesir and worship the Goddess Hel. Their beliefs and values vary completely from the norm of the Norselands and they exist in secret. Most of the paladin orders of the Aesir seek out and destroy this cult wherever it may be found.   Whereas most of the Norselands believe that dying a glorious death in combat and earning a place in Valhalla is the ideal way to pass on, the cult of Hel would disagree. They use poison and espionage to take out their enemies ingloriously so that they may serve they dark lady Hel in her realm. Those of the cult try to extend their life through dark rituals and are regular practitioners of Necromancy. They believe that becoming greater undead themselves would make them leaders among Hel's army and that they would be rewarded for giving Hel more power. They also seek out to kill the Aesir's champions in ambush or other inglorious ways to deprive Valhalla of exceptional souls.   The Cult of Hel hide amongst the masses, posing as normal citizens until receiving secret orders to carry out. They are assassins who have been known to take contracts as murder is encouraged by their dark Matron. It is not known how far spread the cult is as they tend to work in disguised cells with little to no contact with each other. Hel herself is almost never seen in Zeimia and does not speak to those who do not follow her.   The Cult of Hel is known to make their own potent poisons with various effects. Some being nothing more than very lethal, but others have had interesting effects such as sending people into an uncontrollable rage or changing their mental state in other ways. They are also known to create weapons that are easy to hide yet still incredibly deadly. Not many have been taken into custody as they have a habit of breaking, self destructing, or otherwise disappearing.
