Buinwakun Condition in World of Arsteria | World Anvil

Buinwakun

Buinwakun is a Marda specific disease and causes the afflicted party to suffer from a number of simple but time consuming symptoms. This disease manifested early in the history of the world and has largely retained its pressence each year as a mutating viral infection.

Transmission & Vectors

Infection spreads rapidly and can begin spreading after being in its host for 24 hourse. Subjects fluids and breathe are vectors for the disease to transmit from, though the airborne virus is far less likely to travel a suffiecient distance to infect.

Causes

Origins are suspected to be from another species own individualistic viruses. Each species suffers from similar afflictions and though that is the end of the similarities, it has been decided that it was a natural progression from the interactions between species.

Symptoms

Fever, sweating, coughing, running nose, tearing eyes, sneezing, lethargic tendencies

Treatment

Afflicted patients are instructed to separate themselves from all but the most necessary individuals, often attendants or servants, and are to be confined to bed. Season allowing, the windows are to be opened and fresh air is to be breathed in regularly. For what to consume, patients are to eat small items and drink fresh water. Typical foods are slices of fruits or small pastries. Patient is to bathe daily and to keep themselves clean and away from anything that could further the infection. Should the patient grow tired, administer one brewing of natural fragrant leaves, consumed orally, and allow the patient to sleep as long as needed.

Prognosis

If left untreated and uncontained, the afflicted individual will either survive or pass, but will almost certainly infect others in the community. Infection on a large scale can cause a dangerous increase in the symptoms and their lethality. Treated as instructed and the patient should make a full recovery within two nights. Lasting issues are unlikely but can result in occasional coughing and a weakening of their natural defenses.

Prevention

Properly washing and staying away from infected individuals is the most efficient way of avoiding the disease. Infection is still common with preventative measures, but is less common than those without.
