In the far north past the original elven forest there is a potion that is brewed for resistance to the cold. alowing a person to stand in the chilled northern waists with little to no protection. this is essential for daily life especially when the temperature can reach far far below what life can survive in. however if taken in the wrong dose or more than once a day it can result in a so far incurable condition known as cold fire fever.   never far from anyone's mind in the north one person who contracts it can easily lay waist to a whole town.

Transmission & Vectors

this condition is not infection between individuals, however, it is possible to recreate the base compound from an infected person's blood.

Causes

This is a result of overexposure to the cold fire potion used to survive in sub-arctic temperatures. it is unsure what the exact chemical reaction is because of the lack of corpse to examine.

Symptoms

The sentoms include immunity to cold and fire damage, an increase in physical capabilities, insanity, violent tendencies, and eventually combusting into flames uncontrollably.

Treatment

there is no known cure. but keeping the patient in sub arctic temperatures slows the progression of symptoms.

Prognosis

insanity, violence, and death by burning alive.

Sequela

if the patient has preexisting injuries or curses they seem to be overridden by this condition.

Affected Groups

Most beings are known to be susceptible to this condition, however, elves contract it the least and humans seem most susceptible. It is hypothesized that dragon borne are most resistant to it, however, this has not been tested as Dragonborn are very rare in the far north due to the low temperature.

Prevention

carful measurment of the cold fire potion prevents contraction of this ailment.

this is a regional disease as the cold fire potion is only used in the far north.
