Logtoss

Located deep in the Plalinet Forest, in the northeast of New Itude, Logtoss has grown from a small logging camp into a village thriving around the logging and timber industry. A small sleepy village, located within a valley, the wooden buildings of Logtoss are a relaxing sight to those who set eyes on the village, contrasted by the industrialisation on areas surrounding the village with their sawmills and logging camps standing out against the wooded surroundings of the forest.

Industry & Trade

The main industry located within Logtoss is that of the logging companies who call this village their home as well as the branches of larger businesses that have set up locations here. Specialising in the cutting and working of Itudian Oak, multiple sawmills and logging camps operate in the area surrounding the village. Itudian Oak is a popular material for furniture and in various architecture, being exported across the globe. To accommodate the demand, trucks are constantly coming and going from Logtoss, enough to facilitate the need for a truck distribution centre located on the outskirts of Logtoss and a truck stop located on the motorway.

  • Lumberjack's- A fast food restaurant located within the village providing a variety of food at a low price.

Tourism

The draw of tourism is not too strong in Logtoss but some logging companies have made accommodations to visitors who would wish to visit. The largest logging company, and one of the oldest, in Logtoss, The Rootworks Lumber Company, provide tours of their main sawmill and the grounds surrounding it, giving visitors an insight into how their company works and gives an inside look into how trees are processed. Some other companies around Logtoss have taken this lead and began to implement similar tours and visits.   The area surrounding Logtoss, not designated for logging, provides beautiful scenic views and hiking trails through the forest. Ramblers and hikers from across New Itude come to Logtoss to use it as a base from which to venture into the woods. Campgrounds have been established in the forest for these visitors to rest at and spend some nights beneath the stars.   The most popular location for visitors to Logtoss to stay in is the Towering Oaks Hotel. Constructed with a log cabin exterior, with logs from the logging industry, the rooms here are furnished simply in the style of log cabins with a large focus on wood and natural looking stone with a multitude of hunting trophies furnishing the lobby, the Woodman's Rest restaurant and function room.   The Logtoss rest stop on the motorway around the village is a popular stop for visitors travelling the motorway as well as for the truck drivers frequenting the village.

Natural Resources

The main resource and export of Logtoss is the wood that they gather from the surrounding forest. The most popular wood with outsiders and that provides a bulk of the income for the town is the Itudian Oak, a tree native to the Plalinet Forest only and as such has become highly prized for its use in furniture and as a part of architecture. Other trees that are cut, processed and exported from Logtoss are various other oaks as well as birch, ash, pine and hazel trees among others.
