Principality of Enforcement
Hah! You can consider yourself ENFORCED! Really...? No one? You're just going to leave me hanging? Bloody killjoys. NO I have NOT had too much to drink. Drown you!The principality of enforcement acts as the primary policing force in the empire. Being part of the Principalities of Force, they are capable of acting closely with the the other branches of the church in their sector. Once the principality of enforcement has apprehended a criminal, they are delivered to the principality of justice for judgement, or in some cases if they are Frese, judgement is carried out by the enforcement priests themselves.
Structure
The principality, as most other principalities, are highly hierarchical. Each canton has its own department, each is headed by a chief, and which are all subject to the Sorenel Chief of Enforcement. Beneath each of the chiefs there are several branches, mostly identical between the cantons. The first, the chapter of peacekeeping, is the simplest. They are the most active on the street, act as organisers for town guards and handle most interactions with the public. As such, they are who is most commonly meant when talking about this principality. The other chapters found in nearly every canton are the Chapters of Archiving, of Warding, and of Investigation.
The Chapter of Archiving acts as the bridge between the Principalities of Administration and Enforcement, filing criminal records and obtaining information on denizens of the empire.
The Chapter of Warding runs the correctional facilities of the empire and is in charge of guarding prisoners before, during, and after their trial at the Principality of Justice. Unlike most other chapters, they have their own chief, which, while still subject to the decisions of the local Chief of Enforcement is secondarily under the command of the High Chief of Warding, which acts as the warding chief of Charris. The exact origin of this redundancy is not entirely understood. It is believed that the first prison built after the construction of Sorenel was placed in Charris.
The Chapter of Investigation is fairly self-explanatory. They are in charge of finding criminals who have evaded immediate capture. Many of their investigators are capable of casting powerful divination spells.
