The Treaty of Zafar
The Treaty of Zafar proclaims that no kingdom is allowed to own the island of Zafar. Many kingdoms have warred over the island, and many people protested anyone owning the island. It was settled that the island would remain unowned.
Many believe the island is owned by the goddess Zaria, and she told the kings of the kingdoms to leave her land sacred. There are many people that don’t believe in her at all, in fact, about half of the population claims to deny her existence. Those that believe in her choose to believe that she influenced the decision.
The kings signing the treaty say they came to the agreement on their own. However, each of them claim to have written the document themselves, so they can’t be trusted with the truth. It has been debated for as long as the treaty has been in place. No one will ever know for sure.
A copy of the treaty is kept in all five kingdoms. The five kings of the time signed each and every one, to make sure that no kingdom could ever forget their decision to keep the land as it is.
Since the signing, there has been a sixth signature on all five copies. Each one has been signed ‘Zaria’ either by the goddess herself, or a vandal that wanted to confuse people. In most of the kingdoms the documents are guarded and kept secret, so it had to be done from the inside. Each signature is done in the same way, and with the same ink. It is quite the conspiracy.
