Blood Hunter's Mark

Manufacturing process

The hunters mark is created using silver imbued with the blood of its owning hunter. The magic within a blood hunter's veins allows a connection with the symbol, uniting the purposes of both the hunter and his mark. Silver is the only known metal that can conduct such a magical connection with its host, it is unknown as to why however some believe it is due to similar reasons that lycanthrope fear the precious metal. Once the metal is smelted, it is pressed and shaped by a smith and then carved and polished by a jeweler. Finally, the symbol is gifted to the hunter under the light of a full moon - where its energies not only awaken the half-wolf beasts of the world - but also fuel the monster that hunts them.

Significance

Many have heard whispers of the elusive blood hunters, men who left their humanity behind in search of a greater purpose - though none believe in their existence. Travelling amongst the rumors is a singular uniting factor that links every tale - a blood hunter always wears his mark; a triangular decoration of silver linked by chain. To the people who might hire such a person, the hunter's mark is similar to a qualification proving ones identity within the ranks of the hunters. Each order of the blood hunters is gifted with a different mark, although all are imprinted on a solid piece of triangular silver.

The rarity of a Blood Hunter's mark is only as rare as its wielder - needless to say, it is an incredibly rare item. Every blood hunter is gifted with their mark upon the successful completion of their inauguration rituals, and the only means of acquiring such an item would be to rip it from the bloodied corpse of just such a hunter.

Raw materials & Components

Small steel chain links made to fit the neck of the hunter with which their intended hold the sacred symbol of the hunter's mark. The mark itself is forged with similar silvers used to make swords effective against lycanthropes, and is imbued with an energy that causes the mark to hum when within 200 ft of the hunters prey.

Tools

Blacksmiths tools are used in the crafting of the chain links and triangular silver mark, however a Jewelers tools are required for the shaping of the links and the engraving/hollowing of the mark.
