Sain Elain is one of the Saints of Tyen, and the patron saint of City of Gulmire. She is famous for the miracles she performed many of which allowed for the survival of Gulmire during the early days of its settlement.

HISTORY

Birth and Early life

Saint Elain birth coincided with the collapse of the Haelian dynasty in Maloth. She was born in the City of Gulmire when it was but a small colony which relied heavily on support from the kingdoms in Maloth. Her mother was a weaver for the local temple of Tyen and her father was a fishermen. During her early childhood she would spend most of her time with her father out in the Haedren Bay, while her mother worked to complete the Birth Sashes with the other weavers. She quickly gained a love of the water and would often be seen at the banks of the Helv playing with the creatures that were brave enough to approach her.

Teenage years

When Elain reached the age of 10 it became apparent that she was something special. For when she was given her tag it was not the three sisters that looked down at her at birth, instead, she was marked with Gulrik's crown of thorns. Shocked at first the clerics of the Tyen quickly took this as a sign that she had been selected by Tyen to achieve great things like Gulrik did.
She was quickly made to join the church in order to help prepare her for whatever task Tyen planned for her. Luckily for Elain her mother had drilled the tenets of the faith to her for as long as she could remember. So she happily worked for the church, quickly becoming a skilled cleric showing great skill in learning about the divine. It was during that years that her devotion to helping the people was cemented with her seeing the good she could do for those around her.

The Miracles

It was when Elain had reached the age of 23 that she performed her first of many taking her from a skilled cleric marked by Tyen to a fledgling Saint. These miracles include The Bringing of the Fish, The Binding of the Frauds, The Raising of The Rock and The Purge of Weeds. A number of smaller acts performed during this time however non would be classed as miracles.

Death

It was at the age of 35 though that Elain passed. Giving her life to make the lands surrounding the city safe for all those to come so that they work and explore it without fear of the wild. It is this reason that no monster is found on the island of Sotin of this day and why the great creatures of the ocean do not harrass the fishermen off it's shores.

TENETS OF FAITH

Elain carried of the teachings of Tyen and Gulrik, emphasising the need to keep to ones contracts and vows. She promoted the idea that those with power should use it to help those weaker them then and that true power was the ability to see beyond ones own desires and instead see the needs of those around them.
Elain however, also moved away from the idea that lineage was an important factor in weither one was powerful or not. She preached that power is not the strength of one's body or magic but instead the strength of ones word and heart. Her teaching were a major consideration in the making of the Gulmire Charter of Noble Privledges
