The Silver Glade; Deadly Yet Awesome!
Written by Steve Tremblay
Few areas on Ellara, if not all of Theria have the diversity of wildlife and history as the Silver Glade.
The area of The Glade was once the home of an ancient race of elves referred to as the Dragonsoul clan. This was a name given to them in more recent history. The clan name given correctly was the Tiri'Val. These elves had a vast city and rich history in the forest but that has been lost to time and likely will stay that way without a massive effort to depopulate the hostile wildlife.
The Dragonsoul elves were one of the few races with any ability to communicate with the various types of dragons. In Theria, dragons do not "talk" but can communicate via touch and telepathy. If they spoke, the power and frequency emanating from their maw could kill the average person. Also, dragons are less social so they are much more likely to eat whatever is in front of them than try to chat.
In the years that they occupied the forest, the Dragonsoul built an entire city, crypts, bunkers and buildings that have been lost and overgrown.
Riches and treasures await the day explorers are able to make their way to the heart of the forest.
The thickness of the forest is the least of an adventurer's problems when dreaming of plundering lost riches here.
The most well-known threat comes in the form of the predator with the highest body anyone is aware of: Werewolves.
Werewolves are not native to the area and it is not known exactly when they came from The Fire Isles where they originated. What is known is that they decided it was a great place to live, full of abundant food and safety from whatever might consider them prey.
Briar trolls are also populous in the forest. They are big enough that most other creatures leave them alone but they are responsible for the deaths of many travelers moving too close to the edge of the woods.
To the east, just outside of the forest proper is an area called "The Moors". Unicorns reside in this valley and are generally not aggressive unless provoked. The only exception to this are elves. For reasons probably not even known by the unicorns, elves will be attacked on sight and are not welcome in any fashion here.
Gnolls, undead and likely more dangerous humanoid threats lurk in the Silver Glade. The lure of treasure brings many to the area but the end result is adding a thin layer of ineffective weapons and explorers gear to the forest floor.
Bring silvered weapons and many friends if you plan to make it out alive.
