Station Traffic Control

Rin Station is one of the biggest space stations in the galaxy, and is probably the busiest, seeing hundreds of ships coming and going on a daily basis. The stations docks are split between repair docks, cargo load / offload, and passenger docks. With this many ships coming and going, and all needing to go to the correct docking port, it is a bit of a monumental task organising it all.   Station Traffic Control are the ones responsible for ensuring ships move safely and efficiently in and out of the docking ports. They also log Ship names and number of crew boarding the station, and reason for coming to the station: cargo transport, repairs, personal etc. Armed with this information STC staff can direct ships to the correct docking port.   The job entails tracking hundreds of ships whereabouts and order in queue, so some of the system is automated. It has been questioned as to why more of the system isn't automated, but Ambrose Shadowhammer is adamant that it remains the way it is. The control station is permanently manned with staff working 8 hour shifts on a rotation basis.   Most people only interract with STC staff on the way into and out of a station. Most people think their job is simply to be an initial point of contact, and the everything else is done by computers. The reality is much different to that, it is a fast paced job and stressful job. Not to mention a mistake could have disastrous outcomes. Two ships colliding inside a docking port could be very bad for everyone involved, as well as many others.

A Discreet Position

Ambrose pays close attention to those who apply for a position with STC, and only gives the ok to those he has deemed trustworthy. This is often done without the knowledge of the applicant, Ambrose prides himself on knowing everything that goes on on his station. Ambrose monitors STC communications and sometimes he may have a special order for a particule ship or person arriving at his station. These orders are relayed directly to the station staff, and logs are erased after being forwarded to Ambrose.
