Scale of Eterra

And as the village of Milgram finished the construction, they went out to look at its namesake, Eterra, the pale fish, the moon, and it was there that a shimmering fragment fell from the sky, landing softly on the pavilion that marked the temples entrance. A fish scale, pale as Eterra himself and the size of a man's hand, had dropped upon his temple. "He likes it!" one of the younglings screamed excitedly, before looking up and waving to the sky. "We're so glad you like it!"
The Scale of Eterra is a hand-sized fish scale that resides in Milgram's Temple of Eterra. It was delivered, ostensibly from the god himself, as the construction was completed. After some debate, it was decided that the scale would reside in the temple, and a case was constructed for it. Any visitor to the Temple of Eterra is welcome to come observe it.   Roughly the size of a man's hand, the scale is roughly drop-shaped. It is surprisingly heavy at slightly less than six kilograms. In the sunlight or when indoors, it is a pale off-white. However, when placed in moonlight, it takes on an iridescent quality.    It is a common belief in Milgram that Eterra sent a scale as a call to the sea. Although there are very few times of poor fishing ever reported, since the time of the temple's completion, the fishing of Eterra has never failed to provide at least enough to keep the citizens of Milgram fed, a fact that is celebrated in The All-Night Feast.

Significance

The citizens of Migram and worshippers of Eterra view the deliverance of the scale as a sign of Eterra's approval of his temple.
